Its already dropped down to -6F here at my house this evening. This before the real Arctic air moves in here on Wednesday which is crazy when you think about it!

Windchill Warning and Winter Storm Watch have been issued for windchill values as low as -60F/C and 4-8" of snowfall on Wednesday. Going to be a heck of a brutal 48 hour stretch!🥶

You guys are going to get smashed.  Our best winters are usually ones that are very Montana centric.

What's the coldest temp you've seen there to date?

Coldest at my house has been -25F (set last Feb). We sit in the foothills a little bit so we don't decouple very well but we still seem to do pretty well.

We have a very hefty snowpack this year already (~30" on the ground currently) so I'm thinking we get below -30F with this and the airport pushes -40F. February 1996 was the last time that the airport was as low as -40.

It is hilarious and annoying to be right in the Central Sound Circle of Shame at the moment, but at the same time I'm glad for other people who are seeing the fluffy stuff, especially my north Kitsap brethren. Since we lucked out so well in the last one, it only seems fair. ❄️

That said..........it would be nice to get just a little bit to make everything pretty in the morning. 🙃

You should easily come in -30 to -40 from what I'm seeing.

I thought the GFS was crazy with CAA, but the Euro now wants us to get down to 12 degrees? Wow

Its the control run... not the ECMWF.

That is crazy, that is about my all time low at my cabin in north east Washington.  Been to 20 below probably 8 times but 25 26 below only a few times.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

Yeah, this looks like it should deliver the coldest temps in a long time for many places in ID/MT/WY/CO. Euro showed your area reaching at least -35.

Some place in western MT will probably hit -50 with this.

It still appears the ECMWF is a notch too weak with the CAA.  Hopefully that's the theme for the next couple of days.

This may be the coldest they get. Incredible how good the Harney Basin is at getting cold with deep snow cover and a stable airmass. What they are seeing now is an inversion. There are stations above the basin floor that have had highs around 30 the last few days.

I sure hope the Arctic air makes it to Eugene.

Euro says it does. Big question is whether they can score a sub freezing high. May come down to timing.

Looks like maybe we bottom at between 5-9 here where I am this week. My parents house is out the country roads away from the more urban areas so it will probably end up a bit cooler here.

You are just inside the colder portion of the airmass hovering north of us.  I'm at 32F and that is a bit warmer than I was a couple hours ago.  There seems to be almost no southerly movement now with the colder air.  It will be interesting to see how our low temps bottom out.  I'd like to have some bit of snow around for Christmas but that is starting to look challenging.
