PSA:
The NWS always appreciates observations, especially detailed observations that everyone on here is capable of giving. That can be done thru Twitter, as they often set up a feed for that, or the mPing app. That can include final snowfall amounts, when the snow starts/stops, precip type, dew point, etc
This helps them with short term forecasts as well as future forecasts as they can learn from them. A few years ago they had a freezing rain advisory for Leavenworth, but I notified
The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 83/52 there was a reported 0.18” of rainfall, the sun was out 35% of the time. The highest wind gust was 32 MPH out of the W. For today the average H/L is 72/50 the record high of 91 was set in 1977 the record low of 31 was set in 1969 the most rainfall of 2.46” fell in 2004. Last year the H/L was 76/42.
While the official rainfall amount for GR yesterday was 0.18” here in MBY I recorded 0.57” is two rounds of thunderstorms one in the morning and one in the afternoon. While there were severe storm warnings for the afternoon storms the morning storm had the most rainfall here. The overnight low and current temperature here is 59 with cloudy skies currently. Note there was no severe weather with either storm here NW of Grand Rapids.
It's a get hammered or get nothing kinda day here. Models show supercells forming near my area between 2-5pm today and lifting NE. 3km NAM seems to line up well with the SPCs thinking.
Halfway around the world, the Giro D Italia is forcing riders to ride at 8000 feet, while dumping snow at 6000 feet. Cars with snow tires can't drive the course let alone a bike.
Riders are rightfully striking.
