February is below average for precip, March is very wet.

Looking further ahead the CFS has April and May about average in terms of temps and precip. June is the most anomalously warm summer month, with August a close 2nd, an early look at September shows near normal conditions.

The cold air is still hanging on here… above freezing at 33. Not enough to thaw the ice… streets and sidewalks are still an ice rink and icicles hanging onto cars and streetlights.

Waiting….

Temp just dropped back to 32.5 here. Was not expecting that. Just ready to move on. 😂

My wife works at Providence Medical Park off I-84. She goes up 213 to I-205, so my hope is that warm nose edges in overnight and thaws things out at least up to Oregon City/Gladstone. If that Clackamas County stretch of Hwy 213 doesn't thaw there is no way she is making it in by 7am.

Only up to 34 with very light drizzle in North Issaquah. Spent about 2 hours scraping the driveway and digging out a nice trough in the gutter to the storm drains for the melt. It is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y melting. Can hear dripping in the green belt but the ice is persisting on cars, plants, and sidewalk and road. Even maintaining slush in the gutters and shoveling chunks of ice rather than slush. Wondering if the roads will be okay in the neighborhood for our guests tomorrow...😬

Chilliwack really got hammered today. It was in the upper teens almost all day and stayed snow. I’d love to find a secluded and sheltered area up in that neck of the woods. They perform well in so many different scenarios and hold onto the cold wayyyy longer that even Bellingham.

Welp I guess we’re doing the D**n thing. Stuck at 29 with lots of moisture moving in. Tons of ice already on the trees. Can’t say I’m surprised given the impressive cold but this is a bad situation for this area.

Location?

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

Having a bit of freezing rain in Everett (down by the river), with temps between 29 and 33, which I guess has to do with ice accretion and exposure.

just had a harrowing drive from Everett down Homeacres Rd. Solid sheet of ice, no shoulders, and a quick move sends you down a four foot ditch into the swamp. My car struggled at 7mph. When I made it back, found that my driveway spot had frozen over and my car slid into the alley.

Fun times.

Yeah hot in the summers and occasionally smokey, but fall is colorful and winter is awesome.  I've probably had 60 inches so far, and about 2.5 feet on the ground.  Snow on the ground since Nov. 6th

Yeah I've been there a few times in the winters and always liked it. Smoke in the summer sounds like trouble though. How often do you see it there?

Pretty sure Portland stays in the freeze until tomorrow late morning.  We switched back to a northerly drift and the temp dropped a few degrees.  Upper levels are a little cooler than they were this morning, Century Dr. @ 6000' has dropped about 5 degrees and has snow again.   Madras is still 15 degrees.

I want to be there so badly. Next time I’m going to time it where we head over there a day before we thaw out over here so we can extend the bright and cheery mood. Driving home from Mt Vernon in slop slush and heavy rain really did not do my mood any favors. So nasty out there right now.

That's about as warm as SLE and EUG are in the summer now.

Interestingly the 30 year average for Leavenworth during July/August hasn't really warmed at all in the period of record. From 1920-1950 it was 87.6F while from 1990-2020 it was 87.9F. Meanwhile for Eugene it went from 81.8F 1920-1950 to 83.7F from 1990-2020 (and now 84.0 for 1992-2022). On the other hand for Salem it went from 82.7F in 1920-1950 to 83.1F in 1990-2020 which, like Leavenworth, doesn't really show significant warming.

10 year averages are much less stable, but can tell a different story. During its warmest 10 year periods in the last hundred years Leavenworth has averaged 89.8F for a high which is close to its present day average of 89.5F. Historically the warmest 10 year July/Aug stretch in Eugene was in the late 60s/early 70s at 83.5F versus today's 10 year average of 86.2F. Salem maxed out the early 1930s with an average high of 83.5F while today it's 85.7F. Both of those suggest the last 10 years have pretty clearly been the warmest during the period of record (and closing in on Leavenworth's 30 year average).

Of course the last 2 years (and 6 out of the last 10) at both Salem and Eugene have featured average highs for July/Aug within a degree or two of Leavenworth's 30 year average high of 87.9F so recent individual years really do approximate the average Leavenworth summer climate.
