Definitely feels like a classic N/S event for the 21st or so. It's nice to have night time temps consistently down into the 30s.  First time since the fake cold in Dec.

Just got home from a week in OK visiting family. Pretty darn boring weather there. Got back midday today and we had about 1.5" of snow in my backyard. Technically the largest snowfall of the season so far. Tonight should be pretty cold, hoping it gets into single digits.

Went down to beacon hill park in Victoria. Fresh cut grass, daffodils and rhododendrons blooming, and even saw some roses in bloom.

It's entertaining to watch intelligent posters who've been on here many years act like they've never seen this before. 

 

Highs below 40 in mid/late February is fairly rare. No matter what the models are showing, no professional forecaster is going to bite on something that veers significantly away from climo when it's still a week out.

Near Ft. Still in Medicine Park, SW of OKC. I really enjoyed the wildlife refuge and definitely want to visit again during tstorm season.

In spite of the cold weather we still haven't had any sub-freezing temperatures since Dec 25th. Tonight could come close now that the winds have died down.

Made it down to 33F here as well. However, the DP hit a season low of 12F, if only tomorrow's low were coming in at a better overrunning angle we'd be primed for some snow. The DP is still sitting at 19F.

@7:30 PM near west Gresham, 39.5, dewpoint 17.5, light east wind.

 

00z GFS underway. This is a fairly important run. We need 00z runs tonight to trend back to the west with the block holding more firmly around 150-160 W and remaining amplified so it doesn't elongate with increased 500mb heights pushing into BC. That ends up shunting the deeper arctic air eastward and makes a secondary colder reload less favorable. A stronger southeast US ridge would also be very nice.

We usually do terrible here when the front slides down from the NW. Lots of shadowing from the Island range. I’d be shocked if I saw more than a trace or so at this point. Higher elevations on the mainland should do well.

Not expecting anything, the cold/dry air typically scours out quickly around the island in these situations. Parts of the lower mainland should do much better with more favourable cold air damming.
