August 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Geos

Recommended Posts

We've had way more than our fair share of hot and bone dry days. So many places here with dead/dying vegetation from the brutal drought and we have very high fire danger and awful air quality. Can't even make a campfire in most spots here.

At what point will the drought enthusiasts on this forum stop cheering for this nonsense?

Not as bad up here.

And we know it will be raining for the next 9 months anyways.   Its not like its going to stay dry.   That is not an option here.

Finally... nobody is cheering for 95-degree heat and smoke.   But some 75 degree sunshine with blue skies would be wonderful.   Our normal beautiful summer weather has been in rare supply this year and the window for that is closing fast.   55-degree drizzle has no time limit.   It can happen at any time of the year.

Why does everyone have to demonize the other side all the time and make false statements about what they are saying?

ECMWF has been consistent in showing solid shadowing in Seattle via the Olympics and in the west valley via the coast range.

Typical of NW flow.

That is way above normal for a good part of the year... and way below normal for summer.

And in April... you said a day in the mid 60s was a "nightmare"

Move to La Jolla or Newport Beach. :)

You make a big whiny post complaining about people demonizing other people’s preferences, then post this within less than two hours. :)

Totally different and you know it.

Actually... I believe mid 60s was decribed as a "complete nightmare" on that day and the dewpoint in the mid 40s that was described as uncomfortably humid and sticky.

No joke!

Would be nice to get some precip with a little more oomph before things dry out completely in about 12 hours. Models have been consistent with relatively heavier stuff moving in in the evening and overnight hours, so hope it pans out.

That's not very long.

No but I feel for those people if we have a few bad years in a row since they currently have the longest snow drought of anywhere in the State of Oregon.

Worst I can remember was areas around Silverton and Stayton went from from Feb of '95 to Dec of '03 without a snowfall...almost 9 years.

Basically I like to focus on and feel bad for whichever part of the State of Oregon has gone the longest without it, because it's a sad stat.

I was living in Silverton from 1997-99, and we got an inch or two in February 1999. I believe Silverton also got a small snowfall in January 2000.

Definitely a pathetic stretch, though.

It appears the SLE dry streak may survive. In fact, no measurable precip today at PDX, OLM, or SEA either - though the sinking CZ will probably end up dropping a couple hundredths at SEA.

Definitely raining harder as you go east within the c-zone based on traffic cams.

Looks like a light mist in Seattle but genuine rain out here.    Its been steadily raining for maybe 3 hours now here.
