First sub zero of the season at KLNK. -2 now, probably won't get much lower before waa kicks in.

Should drop a bit more. South wind doesn't arrive for another couple hours from the looks of it.

The subzero-less statistic was about the last piece of negativity this Winter had. All we need is a few more tenths of an inch of snowfall and this will have been a pretty ideal Winter here.

About 0.5" of snow fell and temp is currently at 14F. It is breezy as well creating a wcf below zero atm.

The cold next week looks brutal.

Finally went below zero officially in Omaha and Lincoln for the first time this Winter season, -3 was the low in Omaha and -8 in Lincoln.

The recent Arctic air modifies this weekend into the 20’s and 30’s before we catch the western edge of the real Arctic air that will REALLY be affecting most of the members on this forum to the east.

Got down to -6F on the way to the gym this morning just before 7:00am as daylight was emerging. I love to hear the crunchy sound from the snow on the ground and the streets still somewhat snow covered. This is real winter. This is what I’ve been missing and I’m enjoying waking up each day looking out the window and seeing such a deep, beautiful snow cover with steam coming out of chimneys!

Truck said -14 on the way in this morning. Brrr!

Sometimes I wonder if anyone can rely on those air temps that automobiles or trucks read from outside. You wonder if they are really accurate or are they reading a wcf.

I had just turned-in for the night, and shoulda checked the street scene!  Not only did I score a surprise 3" of LES, I missed the VERY RARE +SN obs here at KRMY

normally just "SNOW" equates to +SN around here. This must've been a death band  :o

Currently 3 degree and light snow. it was only 17 days ago that we hit 53 degrees. Kudos to Tom and others who saw this change coming

Feels like we are in Alaska, right? I drive through S Barrington and it’s a winter wonderland out there with deep snow. Cruising now through the NW burbs and light snow falling here also.

Not sure just how accurate they are, but don’t think WCF would have an effect on it. I always thought WCF was an equation used to indicate what the air feels like on exposed skin. Either way, it’s very cold out there.

I.e., earlier today, I decided to do a test on my car temp to see just how accurate this car temp is. So, I went for a drive for 10 minutes, then, came back home. My car read 19F. Then, I went to my office and logged in to my PC and the temp read 17F for outside. Distance from car to office was approx. 30sec. So as you can see, I am trying to figure out why the temp was not the same.

From what I know, your car will usually display a higher temp than the actual temp may be, because the roadway (which your car is on) is often warmer than the temp recorder in an open field.

Tacked on another day of measurable snow (0.3")...just enough to coat the streets/sidewalks and cause numerous traffic accidents area wide.  I haven't checked officially, but this has to be the 5th day with measurable snow since last weeks snowstorm.  Tomorrow may tack on another one as a weak wave tracks across IA/N IL in this NW Flow.

If the Good Lord would grant the opportunity, don't think I wouldn't. I hate it here. I need a place where the worst (lowest) on record for a season is 10".

I hear ya! Hopefully, you can figure this one out.
