The windstorm a couple weeks ago was far worse based on the sustained winds for a long period of time... But man, from nothing to gusting 50-60 in a flash accompanied with thunder/lightning and hail was just bizarre. I'm all jacked up now, and there's not a single interesting weather phenomena in the foreseeable future... lame!!!! More wind, more hail... SNOW PLEASE!!!

To think all of this was caused by such a tiny low- and it wasn't even THAT strong either. Color me impressed.

Looks like wind is calming down here with most locations having measured a couple gusts in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Not nearly as impressive at least by a numbers perspective as the last few storms, but the sudden rise and fall of the winds was fun none-the-less.

On the southern end of that bow. Very cold rain.

Started this evening in the low 50s and now my very accurate car thermometer says 39

Did ya go to Denny's?

Yeah, now at the Denny’s in Everett because they won’t lose power.

Nice. Last day before school here, you just inspired me to make a nice continental breakfast. Or at least, attempt to.

Glad you enjoyed it. You get to experience any hail? Ground was covered here with the wind burst

How'd you like it? I know it wasn't December 1996 (would've loved that too), but it was something!

I'm not a fan of this type of weather honestly. Just hoping you don't have any damage to your property, or have to be without power for days like the end of December. You'll understand when you have more responsibilities lol

I feel ya.

Then again, storms like December 1996 can cause power outages, trees down, traffic accidents, loss of income due to missed work, etc., so I guess everything has its perks and drawbacks. I guess windstorms just have more drawbacks than any type of snowstorm.

Still hoping for that region-wide November 2006 redux, BTW

Glad I am not on this list

Wow! Been checking my nest cams all night. Power remains on at my place in Federal Way. Unsure if fence is still standing though.

Tigard house is online too. Will be curious to how things look at daybreak.

I sure can feel all the excitement in everyone’s post tonight and storm chasing dining Fred....following the storm up the corridor...whoohooo!

Power just came back on. Silver Falls Hwy was closed on the way home last night, had to detour on some back roads to get home. A few big trees were down across the highway and probably the power lines too. Currently 35 and cloudy.

Was certainly intense. How did it compare with others in the past ten years in your area?

By the way, earlier, when I said “typical” windstorm down here in PDX, I meant that it was quite strong but played out like other wind events (not much rain or convectibe element). Seattle had a squall line, how often does that happen!?

Looks strong up there too. Region-wide blow, this one is.

Not quite but close. The south valley just missed out as our winds didn’t get above the 40s much if at all. Minimal power outages and all back on now.

We still haven’t had any notable weather events down here.

The EPS is very uninspiring.

That Aleutian Low is just so massive. Still hosing all of the cold air away.

Pretty big mess out here... lots of trees down. My son was at a friend's house last night and he can't get home right now because both ways are blocked by many trees in the road. No trees down in our yard but there are several across the road. It was really intense... actually sounded like roof was going to come off during some of the gusts.

The GEFS and GEPS look similar. Big ridge over the West. The GEFS does show a little more amplification with the ridge. I'm still hopeful we can get some retrogression with the ridge sometime in late January.

Wow I thought for sure your area was going to be protected. We had a burst of wind during the intense thunderstorm but otherwise we didn’t have much right at my location.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!
