North_County
Fraser outflow eased up on Sunday, but never totally went away. Less gusty at present, but sustained winds still in the 20s. Now that the snow is finally falling here, drifts are piling up quickly, particularly in the usual north Whatcom drift zones. Total accumulations aren't all that impressive, but conditions are still pretty brutal. 24° with an 8° wind-chill.
wx_statman
It also stings a little less that this month is going to end up as a decent winter weather month down here (6.1" at PDX), and potentially top 10 cold for February. December 1996 was pretty much a torch down here aside from a gorge ice storm and a 1" snow event a couple days after Christmas which was sandwiched between days in the upper 50s. So regionally I think this month already blows away December 1996. Definitely. December 1996 had extra sting to it because of the time of year too. Was originally forecast to be a white Christmas in Portland with highs in the mid-20s.

TigerWoodsLibido
Per cams it just switched to wet snow at Murphy Hill (650') between Salem and Lincoln City. I thought Murphy was 750' I lived in Sheridan/Willamina for years and I remember going over that pass to the beach regularly like most people headed to Lincoln City but I also have a terrible memory...I think the Hwy 22 coast range pass is closer to 650 feet as the divide between the Little Nestucca and Yamhill watershed is a bit lower than the one between the Yamhill and the Salmon River. SilverFallsAndrew
For as much heat as the Portland NWS takes for their metro area forecasts, their forecasts for outlying areas are even worse. SilverFallsAndrew
Hopefully it will pick up, but snowfall totals in the Oregon Cascades have been pretty lame over the past 24 hours. This has certainly not turned into the massive snow dump we were expecting due to the front stalling off to the west. Here are the 24 hour snowfall totals. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this event... Skagit Weather
Just popped up to 32.5F for the first time. Been in the snow shadow for most of the night so only picked up about 0.25" today. Puts my total at 11" for the event which is roughly equivalent with 2011. Definitely amazing, but no comparison to the 28" in 2008 I received. Jesse
It's surprisingly hard. Both 1949 (17 days) and 1950 (13 days) ended their long runs on Feb. 5th. The previous monthly record was actually 6 days in 2014. Next one to watch will be sub-50 highs there. They got dangerously close this morning, but I don’t see another slam dunk chance after that for at least the next 5-7 days.
