TT-SEA
Kool as a kukumber. Why would it bother me if someone loves chilly, cloudy, wet summers and wants to move to Juneau or Scotland or anywhere else? That is great. I post the gollum meme when people are cheering for endless clouds and drizzle here in the summer... which tangentially means the same for me and not climo of course. And then only tongue-in-cheek because what people cheer for is also completely irrelevant to what happens. But you have the same type of mocking and angry response when people cheer for non-climo sun and warmth all summer... so you understand the feeling. Blizzard777
Beautiful morning here in Lincoln City as well. Fog bank looks to be about 10 miles plus offshore.Got up at 330 am and headed down to the beach with blankets. Just laid back in the sand and enjoyed the moon setting while watching the meteors! A few meteors were intriguing as it looked like you could see the smoke trail and some skipped like a flat rock across the pond! Also saw four burst flashes almost like someone was taking a picture but from space. It was rather strange and need to look that up as I’ve never seen this before. Fascinating stuff just like weather

BLI snowman
Yeah, I wouldn't mind Juneau or better yet, Ketchikan, but I also love the history, people/culture in Scotland. The company I work for has offices in Wales, and I've thought about trying to get transferred there just to get on the island, then it would be easier to get up to Scotland and get my fix (still have the issue with being so far from the kids though). I've also been trying to get work up on the North Slope. I love the cold and clouds don't really bother me. Yeah, Scotland has a nice culture that I don't think you can approach living in AK. SE AK also has some serious isolation issues, needing a plane or boat to get from town to town.

jakeinthevalley
Just returned from a whirlwind trip to Yosemite. Left at 4am Saturday and went down the east side of the sierra. Went over Willamette Pass and once on the east side, it was absolutely pouring and temps in the high 40's. I guess we missed some of the TSR action down that way. Weather cleared about 50 miles south into CA but windy and mid 70's. Woke to 31 degrees at our campsite at around 7000' and was in the upper 20's when we hit the summit, just shy of 10k'. Beautiful show of meteors Sunday night, although the moon was annoyingly bright. Something magical though, about seeing the meteors with a moonlit Half Dome and Yosemite Falls. Came home through the Central Valley up I5. Missed all the storms that came through the day before. Mid 90's by the time we hit Redding. Arrived home to a lawn that needs mowing and three days worth of dog poop clean up, but a great way to end my summer travels. Sounds like I missed some weather action, but oh well.
Jesse
Really no strong signal either way on the latest ensembles. SE AK also has some serious isolation issues, needing a plane or boat to get from town to town. Very true on the isolation issues in Alaska. My wife is in the medical field, and a lot of people come from Alaska to get treatment here in Bellingham. It’s pretty crazy the lengths some of those folks have to go in order to get down here for treatment. The practice she works for also send docs up to Ketchikan, about every other month, and I think they used to send them to another town/village that was only accessible by seaplane. They stopped going to that village a few years ago, it was just too unpredictable. Jesse
This morning’s low of 61 at PDX is a pretty good example of UHI in action. Calm winds, clear skies and DPs in the mid-50s should be a good setup for bottoming out around sunrise, but residual warmth radiating off of the asphalt still kept the low a couple degrees above average. Got down to 55 here.

Hillsboro is more continental and the blocking force of the Coast Range and West Hills keeps this marine influence out. UHI is definitely part of the equation, but it alone does not explain an 8°F difference. There has to be some geographic effect at work.
