Most likely scenario in a model battle.

The GFS was so way out in epic record cold territory that some degree of backpedaling was near-inevitable. There's room for significant warming from what the GFS has been saying while still having a significant cold and snowy spell.

Been there the last two years during January an threatened my wife I would fly back home if a major winter storm was about to overtake the PNW!

Are you sure?  Unless I'm reading day 8 wrong (and I probably am) looks like the 522 is quite a bit further north, maybe Olympia give or take?  It does look like the timing of it has moved up though.  Gonna put on my big boy glasses and look again.  Ok, day 9.  Got it.

I feel ya. Missed out on the big Dec 2013 event here while I was visiting family in Texas. Only time EUG has seen single digits and negatives since I’ve lived in Oregon.

im already at a disadvantage with her on vacations because I’ve been self employed for so long that I can never fully relax knowing the work is piling up. She is always getting after me for not being more excited about being somewhere tropical. This one is gonna be a double dose.

That’s my worry about leaving in mid February for Cabo...but it looks like January will be the month so hopefully I’m good! Originally we were going the end of March, then my wife changed it to February and apparently I gave her a funny look when she told me, I told her why...I got an eye roll and a walk away.

He is talking about the Willamette Valley. And yes. There would easily be flakes in the air here with that setup even in onshore flow with thicknesses between 522 down toward 516.
