It's straight nasty out there with heat indices around 110F. My station says HI of 115F right now fwiw. Tomorrow looks just as terrible, but a bit cooler into the weekend with increased rain chances.

Looking pretty dry for SE SD but I'm liking the chances for Omaha to finally score some more meaningful rain over the next 7 days. Also liking the wetter than normal look for Illinois/Indiana. I know they could use it over there. Unfortunately Michigan continues to look dry for the foreseeable future. They just can't seem to catch a break.

How did I not reach 100 today??

Excessive humidity! Same issue here with 99F at TUL. Tomorrow I see more of a WSW wind instead of SSW, so I suspect we dry out just a bit more and jump up to the 100-105F range.

I will take the GFS all freaking day… we are WAY overdue here. Best trends I have seen for us on the models in several months, however I won’t believe anything until I see “sustained” rainfall fall from the clouds LOL.

Pretty good signal in the mid range for much wetter weather here. I will definitely take it. The 18z GFS was great.

Looking forward to this. It even centers my neighborhood more than the last severe wx event did. If it's an MCS, probably not as ripe for hail and tornadoes.

83/63, and today was the smokiest day so far since moving to Ashland.

It was thick enough that it created a minor filter from the sun at times.

Not as bad as the last smoke storm here but still code red air quality. You can really smell it tonight.

Woke up to a noisy cell moving across the northern burbs...this cell had a history of producing golf ball size hail...so close...

Glad to see N MO and C IL got some decent moisture yesterday and today looks even better for our farmers.

I'm getting pretty excited about tonights line of storms that develop and come down from S WI....

The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 82/53 there was no rain fall and the sun was out 68% of the time. There was once again smoke in the air and the sky had a white look to it. For today the average H/L is 83/61 the record high of 97 was set in 1913 and the record low of 43 was set in 1943 the record rain fall amount of 2.08” fell in 1972.

At the current time it is cloudy with smoke in the air the 7 AM air quality was at 195 for Grand Rapids. The temperature in MBY is now at 66. To get the air quality for your area here is a link for that.

Let’s freaking go!!! Best local radar picture that I have seen here in months. Nothing like the sound of waking up to some decent rain and thunder (might be the first time this spring/ summer).

It is our first "real" storm of the season....June 29th. Maybe this breaks the hit and miss stuff?

Congrats. I got 0.40”. I would have thought more for as loud as it was this morning. More coming it appears in the next few days.

A couple years when I lived in southern Oregon I'd get smoke along with an approaching t'storm, but as soon as it starts downpouring the smoke would clear until the next day or two.

Seeing the faint flashing above the smoke layer is a bit eerie. :P

I'm actually in 2 Slight Risks back to back, both tomorrow and the next day!

I think that's a first for me personally.

Out of the 30 days of June, only 4 will end up being below normal. Looks like we will end up over 5 degrees above normal for the month after running a +6.4 for May.

Hot and dry has been the story so far this spring and summer for SE SD. Maybe July will turn the tables?

It's amazing how I can hear a constant low rumbling of thunder when the storms were way down in southern Iowa when I first heard it. Sometimes sound just travels a lot further!

Ive heard more thunder and saw more lightning  past 24 hrs than the past 14 months. Not kidding

Models are unanimously dumping a bunch of rain over southern Iowa over the next three days while the northern half of Iowa gets nothing.

Another below normal temperature day today - this makes 24 of 29 days this month running colder than normal. Smoke from our friends in Canada will continue to be an issue today and tomorrow. Rain chances ramp up by Friday night into the holiday weekend.
Records for today: The earliest 100 degree reading in Chester County history occurred today back when we used to see hot weather... way back in 1934. Low 45 (1919) / Rain 2.40" (1973)

All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the climate of Chester County PA.  We continually analyze the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop observed climate data for Chester County.  There have been no post observation adjustments to any of the detailed analytics. All data is sourced from trained NWS observers and spotters. The life blood of science is to challenge what is thought to be known. The concept that climate change etc. is somehow “settled science” describes a religion - a belief system that does not welcome challenges. We should all continue to challenge science!    Snow Totals 2023/24 = 24.5" -  11/28 (0.3") / 12/7 (0.8") / 12/11 (0.8") / 1/6 (2.0") / 1/16 (2.8") / 1/19 (4.5") / 2/13 (10.5") / 2/17 (2.8")

Average Chester County PA Snow at elevations over 660 FT ASL (1983-Present) = 35.9" Snow totals by season: 2022/23 (2.7") /2021/22 (20.5")  2020/21 snow  (52.2") /  2019/20 snow (5.8" )/ 2018/19 snow (35.1" )/ 2017/18 snow (58.5") / 2016/17 snow (24.0")/ 2015/16 snow (40.8")/ 2014/15 snow = (55.3") /2013/14 snow (80.0").

The huge line of storms in southern Iowa got right on my doorstep and then completely fell apart.  We got no rain.  It rained in literally every direction around me though.

I got a sprinkle out of this.  Cedar Rapids and points north will be seeing a lot of this over the next week.  There will be some big rain totals in spots from southern Nebraska to the Ohio Valley.

I just can't believe how were getting screwed time and again in a small area here. For a little while it looked like the north side of the system would deliver 1" to 2" of rain like it sometimes does, but it totally crapped out as it moved in, especially right here. And this was with the first round. I'm afraid the next rounds are more likely to be a little further south. 🤬

Solid half inch of incredibly much-needed rainfall with the quick moving MCS this morning… this was my first decent thunderstorm of the season. Sky was dark as night at 7:30 this morning, had a brief torrential downpour with 45-50 MPH wind gusts. Lots of small limbs and leaves blew into in my yard from this storm.

From what it looks like, there may be plenty more to come here the next 48 hours… bring it!!!

This really sucks.  The pattern is a much more favorable, summer-like ROF.  However, models are suggesting there could be a brick wall setting up along I-80.  South of the wall, many rounds of storms with multiple inches of rain.  North, nothing, through ten days.
