Shower activity is starting to increase to the south and east over terrain in the cascades. Still a decent amount of activity south and west of Olympia. It’s mostly sunny....has been most of the day and 64 degrees. Hopefully it makes things interesting this evening.

Lot of the action in western WA is still south and west of Olympia...but now we’ve got a strong cell on the north kitsap peninsula...some showers moving into Tacoma too.

At long last.

I did not cut down the larger dead tree that drives you crazy. I looked at it, but I didn’t like how the lower part of the tree looked. 10yrs ago I would have had no problem doing it, but I have lost a lot of nerve the older I have gotten. Nothing more dangerous than cutting down a dead tree.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

None of that is related to what I am saying now though... the GFS was on board for the last heat wave and is not on board at all right now. That is pretty important and I can already sense how this will play out.

18z Gfs still showing rain for Memorial Day, maybe you will be right.

00Z GFS is zonal just like previous runs.   Mark my words... the ECMWF will cave.   Need the GFS on board or it won't happen.   And that is not just reverse psychology.

Nest cam footage as that shower with the funnel cloud moved North.  Watch the left side of the screen.  Looks interesting

hope this link works as well

Still want to see the Ecmwf cave as well to be certain.

It will happen slowly over a few days based on recent history.    But it will happen.

We’re honestly really overdue for a cool and rainy holiday weekend. But this wouldn’t be the first time in the past few years that the models toyed with the idea and had people freaking out, only to have things ultimately trend in their favor.

The GFS is off its rocker on this one.

Go with a CMC/ECMWF blend. They handle dateline MJO/CCKW transits a million times better than the GooFuS.

The Tacoma area does happen to see funnel cloud/waterspouts from time to time....my grandparents saw one back in the the late 60s from NE Tacoma....my brother was going to SAMI highschool when there was another waterspout back in 2014 I believe. Then on 11/27/18 a strong thunderstorm passed overhead with a funnel cloud which is the only funnel cloud I’ve seen here in Tacoma.

Nobody is freaking out.    That is hyperbole.   People are just interested because its a holiday weekend.
