May 2020 Weather discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

What's the best resource for looking up wind predictions for this upcoming weekend? I see wind gusts up to 28 mph are predicted but I'm trying to get an idea of timing and wind directions..

ECMWF shows wind from the east in King County... not real strong but a distinct peak during the morning hours.

It just seems funny to see people act like it’s such a huge reprieve when we FINALLY have a sunny day. It has been unusually dry and sunny around here since about February. And before that October and November were also very dry and sunny.

Sunny days are kind of the default lately. Doesn’t mean I necessarily dislike them but it’s not like the represent a huge change of pace or anything.

It will forever bug the f*ck out of you that its generally human nature to like sunny days. :)

That was a nice and wet 00z GFS run. Reminds me of Mays of old. Have you seen it yet Andrew?

Haven’t seen many D11-15 EPS maps lately.

I’ll let you guess as to why.

This will go down as one of the most anomalous air masses in US history.

Even during the deepest part of the LIA, this would have been insane.

That’s fun. Beats drought followed by light drizzle, that’s for sure.

Thats gfs

Ahhh yes.

Here is the 00Z EPS.    Similar pattern but less suppressed.      Still seems like the action is focused to the south though.
