So much dust and pollen I could only see Mt. Rainier peaking out from behind Mt. St. Helens 150 miles away.

Great looking 18z run.

Will be kinda glad when this hot and dusty weather moves through. Allergies have been terrible today, every wind gust is just a cloud of pollen.

79/54 today with gusty East winds and very dry air.

Mine have subsided since the Douglas firs stopped producing pollen. I was glad once it finally rained and knocked it down, hopefully it can do that next week.

It’s the grass pollen that kills me for a few weeks this time of year. Usually it’s not until late May/early June but I think all of the warm and dry weather has sped things up.

I guess all of the extremely cold lows didn't do anything to slow it down, not very surprising since highs were warm still.

I think the chilly lows were stunting things a bit through about mid-April, but since then everything has really taken off, with generally warm weather and just enough rainfall to get things growing but still drier than average.

D.C. is renowned for its 45 degree snowstorms.

It’s 39° here.

FWIW, we had a snow squall w/ a 53°F starting temp just a few years ago. Tropopause is very shallow with these dynamic TPV events. Deep mixing/dry advection. Snow showers at 45°F isn’t abnormal at all.

Currently sitting at 26.30" for 2020. Well below average for rainfall.

May has a lot of hope, though. Already at 1/2 of average and one downpour could drop almost a half inch this time of year. Hoping for some huge totals like that next week.

Yeah just a couple more days to get through and we hopefully get back to some good stuff.

That’s a 2008-12 type pattern showing up on the EPS during week 2. Both in the tropics and across the WHEM middle latitudes.

Haven’t seen those often since 2013, even during the “cooler” regimes.

SEA managed to get up to 80 after 5 p.m. and it was still 70 at 11 p.m.

81 here today so I guess there is more UHI out here in the wilderness. ;)
