Here’s where I should say “IUD” but I won’t. Instead I will say I was in error this morning when I said I had 3 consecutive days with minimums in the 40’s, I have actually had 6 which I have not equaled in 28 years of July’s. Thanks.

You can count on any warm spell shown in the mid and long range to be watered down eventually... it happened all of last summer and again this summer.  We can still have warm days obviously.   But that does not negate that reality with the models.

Got out on the water off Larrabee State Park today, lots of momma seals with their babies.  It was about 68-70 on the water and got up to 80 at my house (about 4 miles inland as the crow flies).

Saw 1961 on the top of the analog list today... I had never looked closely at the summer.    It was fantastic here.    I did not think the summers in the early 60s were that great, but 1961 was a gem.     It rained on just 9 days total from 6/10 - 9/15 at Snoqualmie Falls in 1961.    We are already at 18 days with rain just from 6/10 - 7/15 this year.    If we had no more rain for the next 2 months, we would still have twice as many rainy days this year.   1961 was far superior to 2019 and 2020 so far in my area.    

 

Not saying we are following that year in any way.    I just like to look through the daily records of years on the analog list.

I spent last weekend at Lake Billy Chinook. It was gorgeous. I talked to some locals and they say the reservoir levels only vary by 6 inches per year which is crazy for a reservoir that large. No one was wearing a mask at the marina store. No one. Except me.

I saw Neowise the other day from the middle of town with plenty of light pollution. It was pretty underwhelming. It was nearly impossible to see with the naked eye, but easy with binoculars.
