NWbyNW
12 hours ago, NWbyNW said: So true story, some idiots were shooting fireworks off by the forest yesterday, and around dinner time, I noticed smoke. The smoke kept getting more and more, so I ran down and there was a fire. Called the fire dept and by the time they came, the smoke was becoming billowy and black. Legit these idiots almost started a wildfire in Everett. And you know what I hear again right now? Fireworks in the same area... Update to this story. Within about ten minutes of me posting this, there was a second fire in the same area as the fireworks (and the same spot the fire happened on Sunday) and I had to call the fire department. Now I no longer think this was accidental. I think this person is trying to start a fire in this location for some reason. Again, it is right at the edge of a forest. I would have updated sooner, but I had to go to work. Now I am worried what will happen if I am not home and hear and see the smoke from the fire. I doubt anyone will call. It could cause real problems and cause a forest fire within the city as well as risk many homes.

TT-SEA
Here is the 4-panel cloud loop for the rest of the week... low clouds never really fill in and not much in the way of mid-level clouds after the band passing through this morning. Looks fairly sunny but never totally sunny. And should be smoke-free. The left two panels are the most meaningful in terms of being cloudy or sunny... the ECMWF tends to make high clouds look thicker than reality. Skagit Weather
Yesterday I picked up 0.81" which made it the wettest July day I've recorded on my weather station (surpassing the thunderstorm total of 0.73" on July 3, 2012). The wind also almost gusted to 30 mph which was the second strongest July gust I've recorded. BLI picked up 0.73" yesterday on their second driest calendar day of the year. Before yesterday it had only rained more than 0.01" on four days since 1949. The 0.73" total is also the wettest single day so far of 2023. I assume they'll have a wetter day come autumn, but if not it would be wild to have the wettest day of a year to be statistically almost the driest day. 7 Quote Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)
