There is overpass portions of highway near the HWY 16 interchange in the Tacoma area that were planned wrong originally and just end and will never be removed or fixed, they got it wrong and just left them.

Probably cost even more money to do so, so just leave it, I guess.

They had somehting similar off of 520 near Montlake on Seattle. Not sure if they are fixing it/have fixed it. Between the toll and all the construction still going on over there, I try to go I90 across the lake instead.

The issue is how much money people including us that helped paid for  it for no reason, we don't get our money back and the roads in that area are still and will continue to be some of the worst in the state.

Well, yeah of course that sucks. And I honestly don't want them wasting more money "fixing" it. There need to be better contracts that claw money back when engineers or construction crews screw up like that.

That will never happen, the roads to nowhere have been there for decades and yet we will keep paying for bull chit!!

I'd like to get people's thoughts on this whether it's clickbait, or not. I personally don't think PDX will see anything frozen for the record.

Yeah. 100% clickbait. The Gorge or Hood River Valley might though. This is shameful honestly.

8 years ago today on 12/19/15 at Snoqualmie Pass.     That was such a great month up there.

December's snowfall record was broken at Crater Lake NP in 2015. They were lucky the snow levels didn't skyrocket with some of those AR's. Months like Dec 2010 fluctuated from snow to rain and back to snow.

Yup, not sure to what stretch exactly. While rainfall was being measured in feet in Portland, most of that moisture was snowfall above 3k feet. Back at my place in K-Falls 33" fell that month, but I had missed that while visiting my brother up in Wilsonville. lol

To be expected though with a lot El Nino's, it was a short lived blast of winter. January 2016 started a drying trend, and February had below average snowfall in places.

December 2015 was the snowiest December ever at Snoqualmie Pass.   Might have been snowiest month all time there... would have to look it up.

Haven't checked the rain gauge yet, but it seemed like it rained quite a bit during the night, pretty much pouring out there at the moment. Haven't even checked the radar. Got back from the airport around midnight and then had to get up early to get the kids to school.

I barely remember the glancing blow blast from this time last year. It did deliver a sub freezing day at SLE I believe, and a very solid coating of ZR up here. But in a season with 95" of snow, an even that only brought ZR doesn't stand out too much. Though it was the most significant icing event I've had up here as the layer of cold air was pretty thick (As thick as it can be for ZR I suppose.).

You can see that the ECMWF and GFS Ensembles continue to signal cooler than normal temperature pattern for western NA for the early-mid January period.

The main caveat being that ensemble means aren't as effective as looking at teleconnections in the long range, such as the MJO, which via extrapolation would likely be in phases 3/4/5/6 for the early-mid January period. And there is statistical confidence that temp anomalies in the west are warmer than normal in those MJO phases. And of course, the ENSO influence which is not in our favour and statistically has its strongest influence on our temp anomalies for the late Jan through to April period.

But at least the ensembles are picking up on something bubbling up for the west in January.
