New 18Z ECMWF shows lots of freezing on Tuesday night... but I don't think the surface temps represent something that would be damaging.

First map is highs on Tuesday... then temps at 9 p.m.... then freezing rain map.

The 18z ECMWF is slightly south with the low the middle of next week.  Doesn't go far enough to see what the outcome would be.

Crap... SEA at 22 at 4 p.m.

Top ten record would have been fun.

Like the Seahawks not deserving to win some of those games, SEA does not deserve the top 10…Its their fault this whole thing screwed up leaving the majority of us PS’ers snowless. If they had deep snow on the ground they would have stayed solidly in the teens today.

Here I thought I had thought of everything regarding pipes freezing.  I did all of the recommended stuff except I totally forgot about the laundry room.  Sure enough the pipes to the washer are frozen.  Hope this helps some of you avoid that.

The problem was the water in the laundry runs a different direction from everything else in the house so it was on an isolated circuit which got no circulation to keep the pipes from freezing.

I was reading an oregon live article and "

Meteorologists forecast the freezing rain and sleet that has pelted the Portland area Saturday will shift into heavier snow in the late afternoon.

That shift is expected around 4 p.m., bringing larger snowflakes until 1 a.m. Sunday morning, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Briana Muhlestein. The Portland area can expect roughly 2-6 inches of snowfall, she said.

Temperatures through the evening are expected to hit a high of 17 degrees, and will trend as low as 10 degrees overnight. There could be windchill as cold as -7 degrees with wind speeds of 33 mph, the weather service said."

Maxed out at 21.3 today.  Currently 20, this cold spell came very close to great up here but ended up exceptional for cold and a non-starter for snow.  The final chapter next week at best will be a couple inches of slop followed by temps near 50 by next weekend.  I just popped the head off a hummingbird but I think I’m nearing the end of my tantrum.

Run goes through Wednesday morning.  Marginal temp freezing rain event Tuesday evening and then warm up happens overnight in Seattle area.   But that is just one run.  Lots of moving parts.

Unfortunately that is a famous track for a low of that strength,  but the trend has been to push it south and its almost in a good spot already and we have time still.

It doesn't go to where we get the cold backwash behind the low on this run.  ZR seems kind of marginal, but who knows.

The high of 5 in Lester today seems like a really big deal.  Could one of their coldest ever.

But if does end up going far enough south a crazy  snow event is in play.
