I don’t know why people think this winter is a dud. It’s El Niño. The odds were always stacked against lots of cold and snow. It could have been a lot worse.

That we managed to score a good cold snap makes this one better than expected.

About what I predicted back in November , so far.  Torch December with a one and done cold snap in early to mid January.  Maybe we’ll have another window in mid to late February.  The jet will likely retract at some point.

February has been more of a door than a window of late so I'm still optimistic.

I'm the only shop around this area that still works on the older stuff. Crazy.

Yeah it’s getting tougher and tougher to find mechanics that still work on the older stuff. Cars, boats, jetskis, etc. kind of sad really.

My dad has a 1965 Chevelle and 1966 Olds 442. As of now I’m planning on keeping the 442 and selling the Chevelle. He had someone completely rebuild the 327 in it and he had all of the body work and paint done as well. His last step was the interior. I don’t think I will get to that and will probably sell as is, but I need to figure out how to even price it.
The 442 is complete, I went with him to buy it back in the early 1990’s and we did most of the resto work ourselves except for the engine rebuild as that was professionally done. Has a 455 big block in it with the tri-power. It’s give you whiplash fast!

I knew we would pay for our 167hrs of winter

I always like having at least one winter month without any 60s. Might be a tall order this year, although we’ve still got February.

Last cold season was nice. No 60s at this location from late October to mid March. PDX made it from 11/4 to 3/16.

Many on here would tell you that the Euro needs no working on.

That is funny, We see more problems with build quality issues and cheap plastic parts on Euro compared to American cars. American car quality has really got much better over the last 8 years, especially the electronics and wiring.

If it has an engine in it i work on it. We work on a bunch of Euro.

I have a 2016 Golf R that i'd love to have an independent mechanic look at. The options near me are dreadful.

Haha i forgot about those, I have worked on them way back in the day hahaha

They were not quality vehicles, but the biggest problem was their maintenance issues were misunderstood in the West. They had interference engines. Many US mechanics are used to pushing it a bit with timing belts. Do that with a Yugo and the engine will self-destruct. Yugos need their timing belts replaced more frequently, no exceptions, per the manual.

In practice, they were much more reliable in eastern Europe, where their needs were understood better.
