Interesting seeing pics of so much snow at elevations below 1,000 feet down south along the coast range in Oregon.

The snow line looks pretty high out here and in Issaquah.  And spring is in a holding pattern along Lake Sammamish Parkway... just waiting to explode with a few sunny, warm days.

Yea there is nothing on the ground here even up above 1000ft.

This webcam is 1100ft elevation.  Interesting to note, there is a subdivision at the top of the ridge in the background.  I’m guessing it’s probably around 1500ft. Maybe a bit more.  I think it’s the highest elevation area on Vancouver island with a housing development.

Just 100 miles north there's heavy sticking snow right beside the ocean. I'd never guess it looking at the conditions around here. Feels like spring with sun breaking through the clouds.

Try not to think about the EPS.

Still a decent mountain snow pattern next weekend into early next week, at least up here. I don’t doubt we get some mid month ridging but the magnitude of the ridge is still in fantasyland.

I give the Winter about a C+ IMBY. December sucked ballz but we had 4 days with sub freezing highs in January, including an epic 20/6 day on 1/13 with a strong wind. Then many opportunities in early Feb and late Feb with about 4 separate “dustings” but no big ticket event. Even one 2-3” event could have brought it up to a B, but just like last Winter, we just couldn’t cash in despite many opportunities.

I’m not even sure this winter gets a C. Probably the least amount of snow accumulation we have had in recent memory.

I give it a c+. The 2 reasons it wasn't an f were the 15 degrees at work at 4:30 in the afternoon was amazing and the snow rate today was 4.4 inches per hr which is amazing for any lowland area in the nation. Normally those rates are high in the mountains or in lake effect snow. That was the fastest I have seen 2 inches fall here since 2019. Decent chance this is the last snow chance for places below 1000ft the next 2 days so it was a good way to send the winter off here. This is the first winter since 2016 I haven't had a large snow of more than 8 inches.

If the last 3 days would've been in December or just 2 degrees colder at 925 and 850 the entire area would've got smashed.

Yeah, unless we get 1/4” of snow somehow in the next couple nights this will be the first snowless winter IMBY since 2016 as well. We had dusting accumulation on 1/13 and 2/15 and that’s it.

Excited for tonight! 18z EURO added quite a bit more moisture out here. 925/850s look good as well. We won’t see this much but a few inches is certainly achievable. image.thumb.png.c6b05a32fd7212869aac47d4169ab53b.pngimage.thumb.png.be7e261d7526b0931fb01d32de5675d5.png

This post made me think about how I don't know that temps would have been any different here, had this occurred in December or January. The past two days have had about 522 500-1000mb thickness and -6/-7C 850mb temps, Friday was slightly warmer aloft. We had highs of 36,32,34. Seem about where one would expect in the winter. I generally expect a high around 32 with 522 thickness.

Let's make it 4!

I'm going to have to scour my records, but I think Thursday-Saturday was the first time I have ever recorded 3 consecutive 6"+ daily snowfalls. Sitting at only 1.7" today, so a fourth consecutive day over 6" is looking doubtful.

Yeah I might be too generous here given lack of snow, but my expectations were so low with a Nino. At least it felt wintery at times, we broke the January curse and I had close to an inch on the ground from the c-zone going into the January cold.

Agreed. Hoping for a last minute jog north, but I don’t mind being slightly on the north side 24 hours out. 4" seems like a fairly safe bet, maybe 5-7” if things trend favorably.

I'm usually the one forecasting ridiculously high snow totals, but right now I think there's a pretty solid chance we don't get anything more than some flurries, betting on 4" is setting yourself up for disappointment at this point. In the case things trend north, you could potentially end up with more than 5-7", I'd say there's potential for you to get a foot or even more, in the best case scenario.

It'll be a fun couple days of model riding!

Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated March 27th) 107"

Snow depth at my home (updated March 27th): none

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated March 27th): 84"

You don't know where Randy lives???   He has only circled his house on the map for us about 1,000 times over the years.  😀

Its easy to pick out his area on a map because he right on the Snohomish/Skagit County border just a little east of the Sound and I-5.
