No burning allowed today. So I kept my burn pile small and discrete.

I saw a ton of slash piles burning today. I try to burn every dry day between now and when fire danger becomes to great, usually around July 4th.

Hopefully climate change causes our climate to become more continental/dynamic. Love temp swings/records both hot and cold.

I have noticed we are having a higher frequency of continental patterns vs our traditional patterns.

When I asked the CEOAS professors about this trend (prr-graduation), they did blame it on climate change, but also mentioned more studies need to be done.

Hope whoever your 2nd favorite team is, wins it all. (Unless it's the huskies)

Back in Sunriver now, 36 currently and the temp has dropped 31 degrees in 2 hours! Was looking at other stations in town, some of them are still in the mid 40s. Pretty rare to see such a giant temp spread between the low part of town vs the upper part of town.

Edit typo: auto correct sucks.

Quillayute hit 80 today…. Demolished its old daily record of 64. 80 in mid-March is weird.

And I believe it's the all time record for March? Someone fact check me since I'm just quickly looking at it and not doing my deep dive.

BTW....on the ENSO front it should be noted the CFS picked up on the coming Nina way sooner than the ECMWF.  CFS is very decent on ENSO.

Assuming there is a niña. We’re still in moderate niño territory. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. ;)

This happens across all of the northern US at times in March.   Minneapolis was in the 70s already.   New York City was 74 yesterday.    It’s how spring works at this latitude.  Ebb and flow and battle grounds.    It was happening 1,000 years ago too.   It’s not a big deal.   Nor is wet snow in April which is unusual but has happened in the last few years.

We hit 82°F on Thursday and 81°F back in January. The latter hasn’t happened since 1932.

Are you really trying to deny a rapid development of Niña conditions or just trolling? I just posted an update here.
