Canadian is a little cooler early next week...Pretty weak with the Sunday/Monday low, is a little stronger than the GFS and cooler. Then develops a little moisture along a modified arctic front Tuesday night...

Today 3 years ago. Personally my coldest day I ever experienced. Low -20.2 with high of 6.1

December 2013 was the 4th coolest Dec in this area (at least since 1948).

But the initial arctic blast early month was slightly warmer than the 1972 blast. Weaker in terms of both duration and temps on a few days compared to 1972.

Looks like the Portland Mets are on board for the cold weather mid/late next week (judging from their 7 day forecasts).  Nothing out of this world, but still seasonably cold!  While I love snow, I'll definitely take the clear, cold days with highs in the 30's.  So long as there is a transition event of course.  Haha

.LONG TERM...Forecast models are showing arctic air lurking over
western Canada. This air mass will start making its move southward
on Sunday and may reach the Fraser outflow area around Bellingham
sometime late Sunday night before moving southward into western
Washington on Monday. Model timing is inconsistent with some
solutions bringing the cold air southward late Sunday night and
other model solutions during the day Monday. Many model solutions
show a few inches of snow accompanying the boundary with
temperatures plunging down into the 20s behind the boundary.
Keep
an eye out on latest forecasts for the possibility of impacts on
Monday commutes.

At face value the 00z would freeze Jims balls off.

That sounds cold!!!! Perhaps Lake Goodwin will freeze over solid for the first time in a long time!

Most of the ensembles are a little juicier with Monday's low. Great ensemble. Below average until Christmas
