I’m around 400ft on the ridge above downtown. Very thankful we avoided a February 2021 repeat, we were without power 11 days on that event.

Same here on that 2021 event Snowdome, 11 days, and nine trees that fell near my house, some bgi one brushing against it. Thank goodness for the big "gen".

I'm really surprised some people are already wanting to see a windstorm after everything we are currently seeing.  I used to really like wind, but now I see that it just makes a mess and potentially worse than that.

I've already had to deal with two or three pickup truck loads of branches from the winds this season so I'm good!

I like most extreme weather, seeing the strong wind is fun. Of course I don't want people to get hurt or tree damage but I can't help but enjoy wind if it happens. Though my perspective is probably different then yours, since we don't have big trees really close to us or anything.

Probably still gusts in the 40s for us due to the Olympic meso-low, but huge storm if it's closer.

Yeah let’s move it south a little!

The 12z GEFS already has some signs things might start getting blocky again later in the run.

That and I get so much wind here.  Granted it's an east wind and not a bomb cyclone (I know some on here hate that term).

Not a terrible signal for that far out.  Maybe we will get the January monkey off our back this winter.

To answer my own question, it looks like there is some precip development off of the coast of Newport.

One strange thing I've noticed is that towards the end of Arctic snow events, I lose track on the upcoming weather. I get so absorbed by the short term that I completely forget to check anything beyond 3 days out.

Jesse knows I’m the opposite. I start getting depressed about the warm up before it even happens, and scanning the long range models for what’s next. I’ve gotten better though, I made it a point with the December event last year to start living more in the present. I’d have to say that event and the April snow bomb are my two favorite events maybe of all time.

Just a beast of a freeze up that way.  One of the coldest Decembers ever for Whatcom County.

Meanwhile places like Hoquiam are only running a couple of degrees below normal for the month.  Extraordinary gradient this month.

The four consecutive highs at or below 22 at BLI is quite impressive. It ties the record for the 2nd longest streak and is the first time since November 1985 that they've done it.

I would have done the same, but Tuesday was such a bust for PS. Never trusting GFS again.

It appears that large low is still in the models for next week…Will be interesting to see where it’s planning on tracking! And early signals point to possible more cold fun in a few weeks!
