Now we have a stupid God forsaken south breeze blowing here.  I HATE this pattern.  The only thing worse is when it endlessly drips at temperatures near 50 for days on end.

I'm kind of wondering why there is so much more graph area above the normal line than below.

That is a deep statistical/climatological question that I don't have the answer to but that is worth wrestling with IMO. What is a weather anomaly, exactly?

Perhaps the biggest problem with this pattern is the air is constantly being stirred up by winds alternating between easterly and southerly.  No way it can decouple even when it clears out at night.

I can almost guarantee we have only seen a fraction of what they have.  Unfortunately, I have first hand knowledge of this as my nephew was a victim of a situation like this back in 2016.  He was one of 5 young adults shot in the back of the head in their house, then the house was torched.  It took an incredibly long time for his killer to go to trail, and even us as the family were kept in the dark about a LOT of things.  We were only told there would be some difficult and uncomfortable things that would be coming to light about my nephew.  We pretty much knew it all already, but it was difficult having it going public.

Side note, again having "been there done that" it was also very frustrating to hear about all of the rumors and theories being circulated, and the criticism towards police about not being more forthcoming with information and leads.  They have to be very careful about all of that lest they tip off the suspect or taint a potential jury pool.  Sounds like in this case the main concern was tipping off the suspect, as they had him under surveillance for a long time.

In my nephew's case, the killer was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, stayed at the scene trying to play the "witness"

His alibi fell apart very quickly and they had a confession soon after.  F*cker still plead not guilty and dragged things out for several years, getting convicted in 2019 and his last appeal finally being thrown out late last year.

I was having trouble finding records that far back.

Downtown Seattle recorded 60.9" of snow in 1915-16, compared to 36.2" in 1968-69 and 33.9" in 1949-50. The snowstorm on February 1-2, 1916 is definitely the biggest one post-1880 for the Puget Sound.

Yeah, that would be the biggest official one on record. January 1866 was pretty large as well, I think reports had that around 3 feet in the city over a few days.

Is there any easily accessible data during that general time period in the 1860s/1870s?

Yikes. That’s wild. Where do you stand on the death penalty? I support it. But it seems to be out of style these days.

So, is guys graphic wrong? Snow Stats - Seattle Weather Blog

No, it's just using SEA's data as opposed to downtown. Downtown is definitely more representative of the city, unsurprisingly.

You can find the old Federal Building data here through 1972

https://wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?wa7488

Then a 2nd station that recorded from 1972 to 1998

https://wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?wa7458

And then since 1998, really only the NWS Office at Sand Point has offered any official snow data for the city itself

https://wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?wa7470

Downtown Portland began recording officially at the U.S. Customs House in 1871, although their temperature data is only available back to 1874. But their dataset is fully available on XMACIS.

I do have the old Fort Vancouver and Fort Steilacoom datasets in an Excel spreadsheet for the 1849-68 period, not sure if I can still attach them on here or not.

A few other stations recorded at the time but their data isn't available online, unfortunately.
