April Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Sure.    The dewpoint was in the low 50s.

Nobody complains about sneaking in a 70-degree day in April.     It was warmer here in early March... and just about the same in the middle of January.

Half our office left early today for no other reason than to get out and enjoy the day,

You work with a bunch SoCal transplants. I work with native Oregonians.

I hear things like this throughout the year at my office.

"I sure hope it snows."

"This summer has been to hot."

"I can't wait for fall!"

"We need some rain."

"I miss the rain."

"I enjoy the sunshine, but if it could stay below 85 I would be happy."

No joke dude. Get out more. ;)

Might be a breezy, partly sunny and mild morning tomorrow.

There are no Californians.   We do have 3 people from MN and one from ND though.    My boss says he loves the Midwest work ethic.

I would love to visit an office around here where "everyone" was complaining about one pleasant day in April between rainstorms.    That is one sad bunch.    My co-workers were like giddy kids today wanting to be outside.

Maybe since I'm the boss I hire people who like cold and rain?

Of course. It's virtually universal. It's human nature.

My facebook feed is full of angry friends and family in MN dying for it to warm up there.

Andrew is trolling. :)

Kind of off-topic but here's some pretty cool pics from Mount Shinmoedake in Japan.

Sweet.

Sinabung also went off today (again) as well.

Tim has a brother from another mother!

It's weather, no reason to be so emotional or attached to that which we cannot control, what we can control is loving those around us and making the best out of which is presented to us at all times no matter what it is.

If making sure to key in on what other people you do not even know are saying just to use it on a forum on the line to defend yourself and ideals is weird, and that's saying it nicely.

Hi Tim!

Hi Andrew! How many kids do you have again? We just recently confirmed that a second is on the way. Guess the timing worked out for moving into a bigger house! 2018 is featuring a few exciting changes!

I don't know what it is, but I've been overheating all day. I guess my body isn't acclimated to decent weather yet. Wasn't expecting such a warm one. 68 felt like 78 and I was overdressed and sweaty. Oh well, still loved it.

have it for a few days to a week then it will feel good as we get adjusted but as long as we are on a roller coaster ride like AeroSmith's Rock n Roller Coaster we will never get to that point and just be miserable when it does get warm that odd day.   3............2............1.............GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The inside of my house right now is 2 degrees warmer than the high temp today.   We have spent lots of time in the house over the last 6 months.   We sleep in here as well.  I am not sweating right now and don't normally sweat inside my house.  I am very comfortable.  It seems that this is a good temperature for the human body.   I am 100% acclimated to 70-degree weather.  I can handle it when it comes again!

According to PRISM, the average July high is 74*F in North Bend. Maybe it’s 78*F on your deck in the Sun?

;)

In fact, you guys are the only “green” part of the map in the country that is near sea level, except for Maine. Little slice of heaven.

Someone on this forum will always figure out a way to ***** about the weather, no matter the conditions.  This is just how it is.

It is quite pleasant out at the moment. 64 degrees and cloudy. Rain looks to arrive in a few hours though, unfortunately.

Get out more. ;)

It’s funny, I’ve worked with many people who have the same sentiment. Very common opinions among PNWers.

These prism maps are often very reliable. Thank you for bringing some reality to this discussion.

Are you jealous of the pleasant summer average up here? :)

Of course the UHI is slowly nudging that upward.

Looks like everywhere from Olympia to almost Everett and out to the Cascades is in the same zone.

Most PNWers complain and are miserable when we get one nice day in the upper 60s in April between rainstorms?

OK. :)

Not specifically about today. Just comments like that in general are way more common than you might want to believe.

Today was great though. We were down at Cottonwood beach near Washougal most of the afternoon. It definitely feels a little warm in the house tonight, though. Our thermostat was set at 68 but the indoor temperature rose to about 74 since it was so warm outside.

Today was beautiful.

I don't think above 85 is ideal either... I prefer 75-82 and sunny in the summer. Although we definitely make the best of the hot days. :)

And many people enjoy snow in the winter.   Me included!

74 sounds like a much more reasonable average high for your area than 78.

Down here the average high peaks at 81-82.

A little longer lasting ridging on the 00Z GFS in the long range.

The middle of the country stays cold for the most part with one quick shot of warmth just to toy with them.
