Quick poll for all: Was snowfall a factor in you choosing your current place of residence?

For me, YES.

Yes.

If I move again I’d move higher or even just a couple more miles inland.  We are often just on the edge of the ocean influence here on borderline events.

You know I've never talked about it on here but my dream at a young age was to be a meteorologist but my parents could not afford college so i did what was natural for me and became a auto technician. At age 10 i wanted to learn about weather. To this day it still breaks my heart i didn't get to do that.

I’ve learned a lot here.

Looks like VUO hit 18 this morning. Didn’t realize that until now. They must have lost the wind.

Looks like they barely avoided a sub-40 high today. Three in a row for many lowland spots north of Salem.

Or avoided hitting 40. That made sense in my head when I wrote it out.

Summer ☀️ grows while Winter ❄️  goes

Looks like I hit 15 back at home this morning. Pretty impressive! Seems like I had one of the lowest mins out of people on the forum but MBY isn’t exposed to the east winds like most other places are.

I will say i have a awesome handle on the Kitsap peninsula weather and forecasting snow. I have spent 35 years learning all i could about this area. I knew right where to look when i found my home. I remember the agent thought i was nuts when i kept saying no to places that were not 500ft or more elevation hahahaha

I would make a special trip for you to give my car an oil change and tell me your favorite weather stories. I know you don't want to out yourself, but that's pretty awesome how you serve your community that way.

Very exciting model runs today to say the least.  The GFS and ECMWF both say there is little doubt most people will see at least some snow in the Saturday night through Wednesday time frame.  I'm actually kind of intrigued both models have different windows with a lot of the snow events.

Of particular interesting in my area other than Saturday night is Sunday night.  It has insisted there will be a bullseye of snow over SW King County with temps below freezing.  Many runs have shown that now.

We are going to have a lot to talk about this weekend!

No, but we almost pulled the trigger on a place in Washougal back in 2019 which was partly driven by its 600’ elevation. Plus it has a magnificent lightning view to the east. Deal fell apart.☹️

It managed to drop to 21 here at the last minute when the breeze died just before sunrise.  Nice min for this time of year.

Bummer.

We looked at some places before we bought this that get way more snow than here.  Wish I had known how much difference a few miles makes around here back then.

Nope, this is such a tough market you can't be picky but we lucked out on getting a place with a bit of elevation. I had to be in Victoria for work. That said, I'm planning to move up to Nanaimo or Nanoose in the next few years. Mainly to be closer to my parents as they get older, but the weather up there is also a lot more interesting. I'll factor in snowfall but another 10" of snow per year wouldn't be worth a major hit to lifestyle/massive mortgage.

From Sunday-Wednesday that actually might be pretty realistic. Looks like that’ll be like 3-4 snow events combined to add up to that of course.

Yeah....with so many different chances pretty much everyone will hit the pay station at some point.

The ECMWF has shown a little bit of improvement for tomorrow night on every model run since the 0z.  Good sign.

Snowfall is always a factor but obviously other factors won out given I knowingly and being of sound mind and body moved from Maple Valley to Tacoma.

We dream of living on the water somewhere now.   Snow is not a factor for us.

I just want something that's more continental.  I think so many years of the typical climate here has just wore me out.  This area does have it's moments though and June 15 through October is usually pretty awesome.

My "maybe-snow, maybe-not" shopping is done. Fred Meyer in Port Orchard was suspiciously calm; just the usual Friday afternoon shopping busyness. I'm guessing no one is concerned........yet.

This time of year the roads will always clear up pretty fast unless the snow is followed by Arctic air.

With my daughter seemingly putting down roots in Colorado I could see landing there in a few years. I think I’d like the climate. But I’d miss the water for sure.

One thing really worth watching is the track of that low early next week.  A track like the GFS is showing could make things very snowy like the 18z run.  Right now it's in the minority, but you never know.

This is why Colorado is attractive. Interesting weather without the months of gray. Just not sure I can trade the green for brown.

As I've mentioned on here a few times the forest to steppe transition areas are my favorite.  I do like having trees around.

Tomorrow will already be my 60th freezing low this season.  Could have a shot at 80 this time around.
