FWIW, here is AccuWeather's Winter forecast that they just released. This is what they have to say for the PNW.

 

Snow and rain may target the Northwest and Rockies

 

A phenomenon known as a pineapple connection could take place this winter, drawing a deep flow of moisture into the western U.S.

 

"Places on the West Coast could get hammered," Pastelok said.

 

Central and Northern California to Oregon are likely to experience the heaviest precipitation, with flooding and mudslides not out of the question.

 

January into very early February is forecast to be the stormiest period for the Northwest and Northern California before conditions dry out in February.

 

"Ski areas from Washington to central and Northern California will have a good year with an extra boost possible from the late December and January pattern," Pastelok said.

Mild and dry for Washington, pineapple expresses for Oregon.   Sounds like the perfect recipe for a great ski season!

It was a nice break after getting rain on 15 out of 17 days before that dry spell.     Normal here is 9 days with rain in September... we had 19 last month.   

 

Wet!    Its been very wet here, Jesse.    We have no water issues.    Everything is saturated.   Have you not been updated?

 

And we have had over 2 inches of rain since Sunday.

 

As I said... the standard for a nice day now is any day when there is not water dumping from the sky.   I stand by that assessment!

Not one major station in the SEA NWS coverage area was below normal for rainfall for the water year that just ended.   Every time you portray the only wet spot as my backyard... I will keep this discussion going!

Every time I am told that our opinions up here based on our weather are wrong.

 

Just let it be.

 

We have had rain on 22 out of the last 27 days up here.  That is a fact.   I said that any day without rain is now a nice day.    Makes sense based on our experience up here.    No challenges from people in drought areas are required.    I know you want rain... I am not challenging that.  

 

Glad to have Jim back... he would say the same thing.   Its been wet here!

Even more impressive because it has not been totally cloudy today.   In fact... most of the day has been at least partly sunny in the Seattle area.

GFS has gone for showing nearly 1 inch of rain yesterday for the Friday system to around .36 in for PDX now...typical.

I simply cannot believe the deluge over the past month up there. A whopping 1.35" has fallen in the last 33 days at SEA. If this doesn't stop soon the entire western lowlands will turn into an inland sea!

Am I missing something here? I've been reading that its one member saying its wet when someone brings up its dry, and there seems to be a complete absence of an understanding of geography in these debates.

 

As for the "subforum", just create a new topic and start posting your obs. If they gain traction, the mods can pin them monthly.

I never challenge people from Oregon who say its dry down there and they want rain.    Why would I challenge them.

FWIW, it's been dry north and east of SEA for the past five years. We may need to start water regulations if it doesn't start raining soon. Why some people need to persist it's been wet multiple times a day is beyond me. It's like a spoiled kid in school saying it over and over thinking if he says it more it makes it true.

 

Come on, one more time, we will all get it then.
