That is some HOTT snow right there!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Yeah, you and I are in bad spots when it comes to ice storms.

Surprised at how undervalued it is, but 12/8/16 was a pretty destructive ice storm in my area. About an inch of ice on everything, no power for a few days, and lots of tree and plant damage. Two inches of snow as well under all of it.

North Bend area about to get smacked with CZ.

That is not really a traditional stationary c-zone that dumps snow for hours.

That is a progressive band of precip sliding south.    Heaviest precip is actually closer to the Sound.   Maybe an inch or two at our house tonight... not really "smacked" considering what happened last week.

I don't mind ice storms as long as it starts off as snow and there's some good accumulations on the ground before the switch to sleet and freezing rain. Yeah the winter of 16/17 had lots of ice for me. I remember vehicles sliding down our hill on one occasion.

My parents were telling me about one in (December?) 1996, which was apparently really, really bad. As in they were unable to leave for a week and had branches falling on the roof all night.

Yeah, that was one of the most destructive ice storms in PDX weather history. Here's a memorable photo from that ice storm.

Ouch, I’ve seen this before but thought it was from February 1996 before the big flood. TIL, looks like a serious one!

Yeah, it was a huge ice storm. It was from late December 1996. Mark made a blog post about the picture before. Here's what he said.

"The date of the picture?  It was from those rare back to back ice storms between Christmas and New Year's Eve…1996.  At the west end of the Gorge where I lived there was just about 6" of solid ice on the windward side of objects, which included school buses tipping sideways and trees down all over the place.  The first storm was Christmas Night and the 26th, the 2nd was 2 days later, before the ice from the first had melted.  I remember during the night of the 2nd storm it was 23 in Corbett with sheets of rain coming down, while the wind was gusting to 60+ mph.  That was a wild night!"

00Z EPS agrees well with the operational run with the evolution next week and has a ridge by Wednesday.

And by day 12... it shows what is probably a wet pattern.

That band is now over the I-90 corridor and sliding south... looks like light precip from Issaquah to North Bend based on WSDOT cams and appears to be rain.   I don't even see any snow falling at our house.

Some snow on the Hwy 18 cam at Tiger Mountain so its close to snowing.

This system has been a total bust down here. Got a sloppy inch with FROPA and now pretty much nothing. Looking at radar the culprit seems to be the NW flow, NW flow showers always get eaten by the coast range and never make it here. No precip and sitting at 33, feels like the beginning of the end of the winter weather even up here now.

My front window turned into a stain glass window of ice and a tree I planted in the yard for my daughter snapped in half.

I also remember using my garden hose as a rope to get up to my front door as the driveway had a really good slope to it.

This is when I lived in Troutdale.

Looks like I whined enough and it started snowing again. It's an old trick I picked up from some people on here and it seems to work well.
