-13 with wind chill of -29 as of 7 AM.  North Platte just hit -25 temp with wind chill of -38.  They shattered old record of -17 and beat their all time March record of -22.  This is historic cold in these parts.  I have easily over a foot to in places 15", along with some nice drifts.  What a last 6-7 weeks with more storms coming.

@Jaster

How was your trip up north buddy? I just came back from a weekend getaway from Miami, FL. I think the warm weather there really switched the gear for me to Spring. :lol:

Lake Michigan is keeping west Michigan much warmer then off to our west in Wisconsin are below zero at this time here on this side of the lake the official reading at GRR is 10 and here at my house I have 12 with snow falling. The snow is light to moderate at times but the flake size is very small so not much is accumulating.

It's a deep freeze out there.

DFW tied the cold high temp record at 35* yesterday.

We're usually abit warmer by now.

We're headed for 22* tonight which will feelike about 7-8*

I'm not going to lie when I say I am jealous of you guys North and West of Chi-town getting all of the snow and looks like more to come so I'm going to root for you guys to get buried. Looks like it's pretty much over for us so I just hope we start seeing a warm up sooner than later and be done with this. Not happy with the way things ended up around her this winter but maybe next year will be our year. Hope we finally get to see a warm Spring as that is pretty rare around these parts.

I think the NWS is only including airport period records or something. Lincoln climate page (on the UNL website) is also very reliable and goes back to 1900. On there the snowiest season is 1914-15 (59.4"), though even with that this season is still 4th place. No idea where it was measured though.

Lincoln snow measurements before 1948 are unofficial. That's when reliable reports began.

Little LES here, then nothing but warm cutters for SMI. Season over.

Not surprised at all since the Jan PV blast was followed by a serious torching.

So, in order to see winter one more time while it was with us I headed north Saturday and was NOT disappointed. Deep, deep winter up there and a fresh covering that fell Friday night made it all the better. I've never been in the UP snow belts during peak winter so this may have been the deepest snow I've seen. Or at least in a long long time. The photos don't/can't do it justice as usual and there weren't cars or much to compare for size. Hopefully you can get some idea tho. I know that was the highest plow banks on a 2 lane road I've personally seen since the 70's perhaps. Not even sure why the county spends money to plow a lot of those roads. While I was out there in the middle of a Saturday afternoon I only saw one vehicle. I pity anyone there who might have cabin fever by this point cuz it won't look like spring any time soon.

Kinda ironic the road names up there too

Ofc, while there I had to take advantage of top-notch slope conditions and was treated to a beautiful sunset over Lk Mich

Further inland around Otsego county where they have more open areas and drifting, the bliz last week forced the county to deploy a few unique plows with 10 foot high blades to deal with the aftermath. At least that's what the locals at the hotel told me. Sunshine both days made it literally a picture perfect winter weekend I'll not soon forget

Man, there's going to be so much snow cover up in the Dakotas and Minnesota after the next couple weeks, it's going to be tough to warm up.  Any nw flow will keep us in the freezer.
