All the NWS radar sites are down... even on the East Coast.

 

But the radar is still functioning because the UW radar is updating just fine.

Nice t-storm about 30 min ago. Dropped a good half inch of hail and had thunder every minute or so. Now moving off to the northeast. Nice surprise, hopefully a things to come this summer.

Raining pretty hard now. Up to 0.35" on the day. 1.79" so far this month. We may surpass March rainfall totals by the end of the weekend.

There are some huge elk around Lake Cowichan which isn’t far from here. They don’t seem to cross the hills into this area very often though. Apparently they can get up to around 1000lbs.

PDX radar is functioning fine. See above... run UW radar loop.

 

The NWS radar sites are down. Not the actual radars.

MODERATE RAIN

Inslee declared drought emergency in the Methow, Okanogan, and Upper Yakima watersheds today. This is to ensure folks in this areas have the water to sustain their livestocks and farms thru the summer.

 

Western Washington is not included. However, the water supply forecasts are below normal or much below normal due to below normal precipitation and snow pack. This could change drastically if spring produce meaningful rainfall.

Picked up 0.28 so far with this glob of moisture. Brings the month total up to 0.43

Did a brief heavy rain but nothings falling now. The storm tomorrow looks like it could produce thunderstorms out along the coast but not inland according to the Nws Seattle. Hopefully some go inland and they are wrong

Definitely doesn’t look like any windstorms this weekend but it will be breezy overall. Weather pattern now seems so boring in comparison to 2 months ago.

A flood watch for coastal SW Oregon and Northern California. Some areas could see up to 8" of rain.

00z GFS dries northern areas out again next week. Fortunately the ensembles look a little wetter.
