April 2019 Weather Discussion in the PNW

That’s too bad, considering it hasn’t even really been wet yet up here.

Looks like it shifted a lot of it to the south.

Looks on the cool side at least. Long range gets wetter again too.

For some reason part of me expects this year to abruptly dry out in mid-April again and never look back, like last year. But that was more than likely just a fluke.

00z seems a lot drier next week.

Good to hear.

Currently 48 after a high of 58. Still a bit breezy as well.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Who cares young un. It aint snow.

Just putting it out there, nothing wrong with that. Or is there?  ;)

But a nice atmospheric river would be great just about now. A nice send-off to the wet season before the drier days come in.

I am going to say this. And I cant even believe Im with Tim on this. Fairly wet systems interspersed with sunshine. Be a great spring/summer.

First time I've heard CA included as part of the PNW...

Far northern CA is very nice, though, I agree.

I think it's fair to include far northern CA as part of the PNW. Certainly anything north of Redding. There's a very distinct shift in the climate and landscape the moment you get just 100ft up into the Shasta foothills. The coastal area from Eureka to Crescent City has a near identical climate to coastal OR as well.

Redding, CA gets almost 40” of rain (more than Portland) but it mainly falls as heavier rain. Go straight down to Red Bluff and it’s already dropped to 25”. The influence from PNW weather systems quickly disappears as you go south from Redding.

Redding to the border is definitely PNW IMO.

Climate wise and geography wise, Shasta Lake northwards looks very similar to the traditional PACNW with its big firs trees and snowcapped mountains vs LA or Sacramento with its palm trees and yellow to brown landscape. Just my perception from the many times I drove from Mukilteo to Santa Monica.

I'm sure that's true, but it's almost always WA/OR/ID by popular definition.

Much easier to use state lines

Looks like Tiger got a nice lawn mowing break yesterday.

Had like 3 hrs once the grass finally dried out about 5PM.  Had to rake some goddam tree flowers and I am bush league when it comes to identifying trees and this particular one that has a single leaf and pinkish white flowers accumulating like snow.  It's the tree that almost snapped a power line with a big limb that busted from 20" of snow.

Look at all those weeds.

That’s the first thing I noticed too. Why the slug was there in the first place.

I dont even know what that means. I know w7enk has spoke of this.

Hopefully that east wind density improves next winter. Fell just a tad short last Feb.

Yeah, I get it. But no one nationally thinks of northern CA as the PNW. Any time I tell someone I'm from there they assume the NW corner of the country: WA/OR/ID.

K12 might technically be “Generation Y” (they need to think of a better name, thoughts domebuster?).

Millennials be getting older.

We should all be worried about the generation after gen Z...gen Z is anyone born after 1995 (I was born in 1999). Then Gen alpha is anyone born after 2014. Kids under 10-13 years old or so will never know what life was like before cell phones took over everyone’s life along with social media changed life forever. I am not much older but I still saw a small glimpse what life was like before everything changed entirely. I wish I was born in the 60s...people seemed more trustworthy and nice with values now it seems in this day and age that’s all gone.

Aren’t you too? Born in ‘84 if my memory serves.

Yes I am. I don't typically like to judge people just based on when they were born. Humans are more complicated than that.

That is true you can’t really define a person on the time they were born nowadays the world isn’t like that. I don’t feel like I act like a “gen Z”.

I know several old people that act more millenial than actual millenials, my mom is one of them, she is in her mid 60's and very annoying.

Be grateful you have a mom. My mom could be annoying sometimes too, but I would take her at her worst over what happened 12 years ago today.
