GFS Looking good.

Another nice day on tap. Thinking about socially isolating at a high lake this weekend to see some flakes.

We were up at Burnt Lake on Mt. Hood earlier this week. Absolutely gorgeous. Will post some pics for you Andrew.

GFS always overforecasts rain here in NW flow events. Probably going to end up being a typical rainshadow here.

Still a pretty good run even if y’all end up with half the rainfall that is forecasted. Looks wet up here in western WA anyways...decent rainfall still on the latest gfs run for mid next week.

Tacoma WA elevation 300’

Monthly rainfall-3.56”

Warm season rainfall-11.14”

Max temp-88

+85 highs-2

+90 highs-0

I would rather have all of my weekend rainfall head Into southern Wa and into Oregon. We are in great shape up here.

even here in Tacoma were in pretty good shape...it’s south of centralia and chehalis that are running the deficit. Either way I’m sure we will get some nice weather sometime soon.

The last couple weeks have been pretty “nice” for the most part.

Today was beautiful.

I agree...has been a good balance of sunshine and rain since late April IMO. May pretty much exactly met all my weather preferences from sunshine to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Had a good mix of everything.

First derecho of the season blasted thru PA/NJ yesterday with straight line winds to 90mph. Earliest derecho in the Mid-Atl since 2008. Analog?

In all seriousness, I was on the 2005/2007/2010 train, but with the QBO/tropical stratosphere behaving unconventionally..who knows? Might end up skipping another heartbeat and end up with downwelling westerlies ahead of schedule again.

I arrived here from Florida 3 weeks after the big snow event in December of 2008. Please make this analog come true Phil heh

Overcast and 55 this morning. Looks like there could be a little light rain or drizzle later, but should still get close to 70 this afternoon.

Yesterday was 72/52 with a mix of sunshine and clouds, and breezy NW winds.

Looking forward to the more active, rainy pattern starting tomorrow thru next week.

That sucks. We are due for a snowy December so hopefully you get to experience one soon.

We've been due for some Dec-Jan action since 16-17 (a winter that spread the wealth around pretty well). Pretty much anything interesting has been in Feb over the last 3 winters unless you live about Everett and up north who had action this past Jan.

PDX is the most due for a mega event. 1-10-17 was their last one.

Regardless, even with a dud down this way for the cold season, we still had 2/25/19 the year before and it was a much better decade than that 1996-2009 disaster in the south valley.

Next winter is my last one in this current location before I’m off to college... so that certainly does not bode well for next winter. But in that case 2021-22 should finally be the one where Portland gets blasted with 20” of cold powder.

Shouldn’t take much to outperform last winter, though. 2019-20 was pretty much on the same tier as 2002-03 or 2014-15. At least we got our dud out of the way, however.

The 1996-2009 period of record skews EUG's numbers bigly.  Prior to that, it was a lot better IMO.  Was just a stretch of terrible luck with a handful of minor events peppered in. Nothing like Albany up north.

And again, Feb 2014, Jan 2017 & Feb 2019 all showed what this area is capable of. Favorable upper-level conditions are often a prerequisite of course, plus cross-Cascade gradients are awesome when the winds blast down the McKenzie Valley.

Nice, I was going to do Burnt and Cast lakes last week but decided on Paradise park instead. Seeing those pics makes me keep kinda wish I had done the lakes.
