Tall skinny conifers can bend a significant amount before they break.  It’s  surprising sometimes when you watch them in the wind.

The Dec 20, 2018 storm was one of the strongest I can remember here and the most damaging in bchydro history.

There was a huge blowdown on central Vancouver Island

Interesting, very different failure mode there compared to hardwood forests.

It looks so pathetic. A little baby patch of cold anomaly swallowed by the warmth.

Doesn’t get “swallowed” so much as the anomaly changes as it advects east. Pacific air can run a negative departure over the water/coasts, but that same airmass is a warm departure farther inland where climo is cooler.

I’m confident we’ll see an early season Arctic/Continental Blast. I’m targeting mid November to early December right now.

You have more confidence than I.

Congrats on finally getting Gameday to Seattle. The smart money is on UW at home. UW has great skill position guys but isn’t even close to Oregon in terms of roster talent and depth. Dan Lanning looks to avenge a game he single handedly lost at home. This one could go either way guys, but I really look for coach Lanning to come out strong and return the favor. Oregon 38-28.

Oregon might have better overall depth but UW has the best WR room and QB in the game.

Good lord this game is a classic.

Cascade Clash should be the name of this game. Winner gets a Crystal LED neon mountain and trees trophy that light up the team colors that win.

Love it. Not loving the last 2 possessions from the Dawgs. Liked the challenging the backup CB but want to see more running when up 11 pts.

Oregon leaving 6 points off the board is a killer. Bad coaching for the Ducks there. Now it’s raining here in Springfield. Let’s see if Oregon can hold on.

I bet on UW to win in my parlays.

El Niño looking niceee. In perfect resonance with +IOD.

Also some hints of more basinwide structure lately, will see if that continues.

Yeah I been thinking November 10th thru December 15th. Then El Nino conditions overall from about December 20th thru rest of winter.

Same. 💦

Phil buddy your sig is getting kind of obnoxious with the weather information for a place that is 3,000 miles away from the focus of this thread, and now the live stream video. Any chance you can shrink things down?

Whoops 😂 I meant to add the link not embed the stream. Hold on a second.

That better?

Apparently copy/pasting the YT link from mobile app automatically embeds in the video in the signature. Interesting.

I can also shrink the PWS graph. That one I coded myself. I’m definitely a bit greedy with the amount of data I want to fit in there, haha.

Great weather to be outside and enjoy the sunshine since the fall colors typically peak this coming week. 🍁 🍂

Going to be cloudy and rainy over northern sections of the PNW.  Pretty juicy AR pointed at Vancouver Island and it has been slowly trending to the south.

I woke up this AM and all of a sudden the hues in the tree canopy are starting to change. 🍂 Not sure if it was too subtle to notice before or if it really was that quick, but many trees definitely starting to make the turn now.

Oaks and beeches still deep green of course (they prob won’t turn for another month or so) but all the others have begun trending towards yellows and reds.
