My best snowfall this season happened when it really shouldn't have......... so............

According to most professionals on here no snow is possible south of Seattle or below 1000ft. Oh well.

I have no idea if it's going to snow or not anywhere next week. But if the EURO cuts that 2nd trough too far west tonight, we can probably kiss that trough goodbye.

What is your point? This is describes every favorable PSCZ snow event ever. You've been saying "this won't last long!" about 500mb troughing, intrusions of Arctic air, and bouts of rainfall. It's like every six hours you forget the concept of impermanence and you relearn via the latest GFS run that all things come and go.

Those are not mutually exclusive. The flow moving around the low is part of what creates the convergence.

The actual precipitation is associated with the circulation of a low. I know that a low pressure passing through can cause a convergence zone.

As someone who grew up in Tacoma and lived in Seattle, I can tell you that Tacoma definitely does not see more snow than Seattle on average. OLM is a different story, obviously. But Fife and Puyallup are definitely not OLM.

I think Fife is the bottom.  Just a terrible location.

Shadowing absolutely impacts Seattle's snowfall compared to the wetter places further south. You just have to look at Olympia's averages to see that. The South Sound generally does better from that alone, and obviously Snohomish County does way better from the PSCZ which often picks up between Lynnwood and Shoreline. Seattle is in something of a snow-no-man's-land a lot of the time.

In the old days it didn't really matter though.  They still put up great numbers.  Probably just more scenarios where they were able to score back then.

We are definitely in the range where the gfs is usually too aggressive with the cold.

It sure wasn't with the January event.

True. I think it got there in the end.  I think typically we see it being a little too aggressive with the arrival of cold air out of the Fraser Valley.  I don’t think Fraser outflow is really playing much of a roll in whatever snow falls early next week for most places.

Monday looks like a convective event to me.

We would be close to average rainfall for the month of March by the 3rd if that verifies.

The Graph Cast has the second trough right over us by day 10.  Also an enormous long wave ridge behind it that will be very slow to move.

Palms don't do real well in our microclimate due to the cold / dry east wind we get.  Very hard on plants.

Even Fife isn't the best climate for them obviously.
