That map must be using some sort of crappy data source LOL. Or maybe hail just doesn't like to fall in Alabama.

Edit @iFred just saw your comment above

It's FEMA's official hail risk map. I'm guessing it is closely associated with damage reports.

18z gfs is great, gives the Oregon cascades the most snow despite the fact that we need it the least!!

49 currently and amazing outside, 50/14 day. Should get some 40+ degree spreads by the weekend. Happy pie π day!

New Mexico is really nice if you get rid of the big towns, the mountains there are amazing, but putting it above Wyoming in this list is insane.

I never saw 82 from Mark, and I talked to him last night and 77 was the highest one that he approved.

82 was the math I used for temperature potential using the 850s Mark was using.

We hit 82°F today instead. Grotesque. 🤮

55 and sunny and bright at 5pm. Feels weird…not to mention that it’ll be in the upper 60s and 70s the next few days!

Sunset on February 1 was 5:11, today it’s 7:14. Quite a shift in six weeks even if it was DST aided.

Most of WY is a barren, windy wasteland.

Woodpeckers are out en masse today making noise - Spring is here!

In Vancouver, the flickers have learned that the standard street light design the city uses is hollow inside with a thin stamped sheet-metal cover that resonates excellently. You almost never see flickers drumming on trees here. It is almost always streetlight covers and occasionally downspouts or stovepipes.

It's called clown range for a reason.

There's a lot more wasteland in NM than there is in WY, and the nice parts of Wyoming are really REALLY nice. And I think your comment proved my point about Wyoming being underrated.

I bet NM has more run down areas too. I stayed at Grants once and thought that made Klamath Falls look like a nice place in comparison.

OT but it looks like a sneaky tornado outbreak tonight in IN/OH. I think the SPC had a 2% tornado risk up in that area this morning and it ended up producing this:

Just goes to show severe weather forecasting is still a very tricky science.

I agree the NW 10% of WY is incredible.

For whatever reason l enjoy the vast nothingness of WY and NM. Only seen northern NM to Santa Fe and it’s been many years since I’ve been to WY, but there’s something about wide open spaces at 7000 feet.

South/west Denver has been really nailed it seems. Definitely over 20" by my relatives' house with the radar still looking very good.

Yeah even though Colorado Springs at least where my cousin lives has over a foot. They are still expected to get another 3-10 inches based off the WSW for there.

NM has one of the highest poverty rates of all US states. Lots of run down areas.

I’ve thought about moving somewhere really remote and beautiful like Wyoming, Montana or even eastern Oregon. Only problem is what the hell do you do for work in places like that.

Yeah I don’t want to live in those places. But I enjoy the experience of visiting.

Much of the foothills west of Denver has over 3' now. Dumping the hardest it has all storm currently. Wouldn't be surprised if I see another 6" overnight.

I do want to live in Bend Oregon some day…or just in central Oregon. Thats not super remote but some access to some great areas. I’d like the 4 seasons aspect too compared to the 2 seasons we get here basically.

Snow looks so beautiful in the dark when lit up well. These pics make me want one more snowstorm before the season ends, it's still possible at this point!
