No snow here.. Everyone got snow out of this cold snap except us

None here and it looks like it is going to pass within 5 miles. I don't know how it could get any closer and still avoid my location.

Radar trends look promising for you to see something fall at least. Gotta another 40 miles before it reaches us up here, though.

You got snow yesterday though, didn't you?

About 0.3". Still had some tiny pockets of white in the shade today. Pretty lame though when you consider that my folks down in Salmon Creek have 12" on the ground at this moment.

Yeah, the only point thing that is keeping me from going completely crazy right now is that I got 3" in December so I have not been completely snow deficient this winter.

Had the Aurora out last night! Photo by Jason Grove. Was also around 10 last night. Looks like another cold one tonight.

Waiting for new snow...

Last nights display was also one of the most active I've ever seen. Saw a streak of green morph into silver and then red. Crazy watching tentacles of light wrap around the night sky!

The NWS really underestimated the snow we are getting here in Yakima.

1" 2 days day ago, 2" yesterday, and today we have had 9" and counting! It's really dumping right now.

Took these 15 mintues ago.

Looks like the snow is hitting you guys pretty good.  The band of precip is on the southern periphery of town and should be starting within the hour here.

Where have you been all day?

Others are worried sick over your absence.

I've just been bummed by our inability to get snow...until now.  I wasn't going to say a word about this event until the snow was actually falling.

Amazingly this keeps the streak in tact for early February cold snaps always recording measurable snow in Seattle.  The only time frame where that is true.

Got 4" here in the swamp. What an evening!

Pretty amazing when your area is a big winner.  The east wind kept our totals down up here early on, but it dumped nicely for about an hour before the end.

The last few frames of coastal radar are weird ( motion wise )

I noticed that also.  Clockwise rotation in the area of precip off the coast.

Glad you got some. I'm somewhere between 4 and 6 inches, I think. I have to measure again. It's probably only 4-5. At 8:30 or so it was 3 inches and it snow hard for another hour or two. Still snowing now just much lighter. Very pretty snowflakes. Not little flakes and not the big ones, but very fine lacy ones. Easy to see all of their detail.

I will be very interested to see how my area fares tomorrow.  The WRF indicates light easterly surface winds well into tomorrow night.  With snow on the ground and thicknesses still below 534 it should be pretty cold.  Not too hard to imagine a few more flakes falling before this is over.

Here you can see why the snow exploded inside the band of moisture ... The green is the upper divergence split ... between that 'split' is the pink-outline zone of stronger upper divergence aloft, therefore strong lifting ...

In some places I have only 3 inches. In others I have 5 inches. It depended on the type of surface the snow fell on. Starting to snow harder at this time. Hope the temps continue falling tonight. It would be fun to have some more snow in the morning before it starts to melt.

I really like how you take time to explain what you know. Other folks on here have done similar at times. What do you think the precipitation and temperature are looking like tomorrow morning? I'm guessing I'll be above freezing by 10:00, but I really don't know. Temperatures up by Bellingham don't even look that cold.

Went up to 33F here in the Salem Area this afternoon and back down to 30F with everything in solid ice.  Can't open the trash cans.     Too bad we didn't have the 10F lows that were forecast for last Thursday.

If we do get more moisture it will look like this by daylight tomorrow.    (Russia Ice Storm)http://img.xcitefun.net/users/2010/11/216713,xcitefun-frozen-1.jpg
