Ensembles continue to not be that bad and show a clear retrogression signal towards the end... I'm intrigued.

Well something has to give. We have never had the heart of our rainy season Jan and Feb go totally rainless before. This is getting ridiculous

Looks like SLE and EUG hit at least 25 this morning. 26 at PDX. A decent stretch of cold lows. 

Starting to look like early February could put up some decent low temps too. Coming into today PDX was only +0.2 on the month and SLE only +0.4, both could potentially pull off slight negative departures, which is amazing considering how much torching we had earlier in the month.

Long numbers make it sound like a bigger deal to the average human brain. I'd say they're good at that

KLMT had a -2.4 departure in March last year (high was +1.2 but cold lows!) using the older averages.

But folks wouldn't want another repeat of that Spring in general. Northwest needs something like 2012.

That's what can happen when you simply shut the Pacific down for a few weeks. We will sit under a giant ridge and still be a lot colder. Our latitude actually starts to come into play as well in the mid-winter....
