Anti Marine Layer
No activity in California today, but this has got to be the first time ever that NWS San Diego posted a Heat Advisory with temperatures mostly in the mid 70s and a nice cool breeze. It was indeed a beautiful day, but definitely not Heat Advisory criteria.Downtown Los Angeles was even cooler with temperatures mostly in the upper 60s, despite the sunny afternoon there. To be in the 60s on a sunny June afternoon is quite phenomenal here, especially with no large negative anomaly in sea surface temperatures, but there's a first time for everything. ShawniganLake
We almost made it but just fell short! Portland and Hillsboro both got up to 99! We are still about 2 months away from the peak of summer in the PNW so we are just getting started.Everyone should have just watched the news. ShawniganLake
92F here today. That 92-94 range seems to be about as hot as it gets here, at least over the last several years. Looks like we haven't hit 95 or above since the big 2009 heatwave.
Geos
93 degrees with a dew point of 64 in Eugene. Yuck. MossMan
Yesterday we had a stiff NW wind all day at the lake keeping things like a sweaty back in check. Today was nearly dead calm so we spent a lot of time in the water or on the jetski. A picture perfect weekend of summer fun! Still low 70's at 10:30pm...love it!! You are evil for liking extremes of the season. You would also be VERY excited about being 30 degrees below normal in January with a foot of snow on the ground! It was a beautiful day on Lake Washington with a boat full of kids... no one seemed to mind the heat. Of course they were in the water for most of the day. A fun day of making summer memories for them. James Jones
Eugene's low of 65 last night broke the daily high minimum record by a whopping 8 degrees (previous record was 57 in 1978). I was unable to determine if it was a monthly record for June or an earliest-date record, although I imagine it was both.It was indeed a monthly record, and it was the earliest 65 on record by over a month. Next earliest was July 12th in 1990. Though they're down to 67 as of their last update, so it's likely they fall below 65 by midnight.
