Newport has strong NE winds as of 5pm so the low is south of there.

Precip is definitely further north than modeled earlier today. 

 

Can't rule out OLM and possibly other south sound locations still seeing a little snow.

 

I don't think things could possibly look better for greater Portland.

I love the look of these bands on radar. We could get some real heavy snow, not that wimpy stuff we were dealing with for earlier events this year.

Looks like this will be a very widespread event but a lot of banding, big changes in snow totals from place to place. West side looks to do well at least early tonight.

Corvallis is up to 0.9" of rain today and 3" total liquid equivalent since Saturday (including snow and ice).  Raining hard at present. 

 

Low is elongating up the valley, surface winds are southerly on the east slopes/cascades and northeasterly on the west slopes/coast, dead calm here in the center.

0z NAM shows it landfalling between Florence and Newport in about 6 hours.

 

18z NAM showed it landfalling just south of Coos Bay around the same time.

That is nearly 90 miles difference between Coos Bay and Newport. It sure would be nice if some scraps could make it to Puget Sound

New 3km NAM says Scappoose to Longview are the big winners through midnight. Then things ramp up for Portland to Salem more after that.
