I was absolute dead center of that purple! It sucked. 14 days without power. Didn’t see a PGE truck until day 12!

That's disgusting

It's been snowing super lightly for hours now.  It is slowly adding up with a nice solid covering now.  Maybe getting close to an inch.

Seems like one of those winters with a ton of marginal events you did really well compared to most.

The last 2 winters each we have gotten 18-22 inches of total snow, not too shabby.  2008 will always be the golden snitch for me though.

Yeah bro... I think I got like 1" out of this today and towards the end of the game. This one kinda stings.

Tonight, is obviously going to have surprises.  Just about anyone between Mount Vernon and Tacoma could get lucky.

I'm definitely on the hype train-- the ice is gonna suck but the weather just before is gonna be more than a little exciting

Nasty sheit.  I had like a half inch of ice here in Jan 2012 and that was plenty.

Us Portland posters probably have some of the lowest Measured Snowfall / Hours model riding ratios anywhere 😅

KPTV is going for 0- 1/2 inch of snow Thursday before it goes to sleet/ZR which seems like a good bet.

I think the models are pretty much locked in at this point, I expect the projected temps to moderate a bit more but probably not too much more.

The first light band of precip is probably going to be it as far as snow goes and unless it ends up somehow being more dynamic than expected, a dusting is probably what most of us can expect.

Snow aside, it should be fun tracking the cold air advection tomorrow and the crazy easterlies.

Thursday night could be fun here for a bit, could overachieve with snowfall, but I think the moisture is gonna work in earlier than progged as well.  The progged set up has over produced before transition before.

Yeah it's really been disappointing the past few winters. At least I can look back on the 13" of surprise snow that fell in 8 hrs in January 2017.

I think you said you were west of HIO, how did you do with the February 2014 and January 2017 storms?

I know people make fun of the phone apps but mine says there could be about four hours of snow in the Puyallup Valley tonight between midnight and 4am.  I'll take it if it happens.

That is very possible.

I'm kind of relieved that none of the models are going too nuts with the winds here on Thursday.  It appears the high pressure east of the Cascades has enough escape routes to take the pressure off of this area.

On Dec 14th 2016, Eugene had a terrible ice storm. Ice at least over 1.5". Somehow, I never lost power but some people in the hills lost it for 2+ weeks. At least there was very little wind. Some parks were closed for over a year. Anyone that had a tree on their property had some cleanup to do or major damage.

Oh yeah. That was the day Salem had the big snowstorm. Since my in laws live

in Eugene we ended up with a lot of firewood from that one.

I also heard Eugene had a lot of ice with the February 2014 event.

Whew, new blog post from Mark and he's bullish. Strong winds, up to an inch of icing east metro, a frozen hellscape Gorge through Christmas...

Why does that not surprise me that Salem north scored. At least Eugene probably also has fewer damaging ice storms being farther south. But the n/s gradient isn't huge.
