December Weather In the PNW

1/4" here and that's stretching it.  Not snowing, 30F.  Sure was worth all the sweat and bother over a weeks worth of models.  Yeah, the models look like the fresh dog crap in my yard that didn't get covered up with the snow.

Looks like the total here is about 3". The trees turned somewhat white with the big band of snow that moved through this evening thanks to the layer of freezing rain from earlier.

Finished with about 2.5" here.

Been in my new house here for 3 Christmas’ now.... 3rd white Christmas. Just how it should be.

I wonder if Seattle recorded the required 1" of snowfall that merits a "white Christmas" if it lasts until 7 am. Driving past the airport tonight it didn't look like there was an inch near the freeway at least.

If not at the airport, there should be enough at the NWS office. I'm visiting my parents just up the hill, and there's 2.5" here.

The 0Z 12km NAM shows snow all over western Washington after 11 pm tonight. Somehow it magically produces precip out of nothing

We did pretty good with the first part of the event with a little over an inch of fairly dry snow.  The east wind really served this area well this time as temps were in the upper 20s when the snow was falling.  The models still like an inch or so here between 12z and 18z.

I made two specific predictions for this winter besides the general prediction of it being a cold one.  I specifically predicted December would have some kind of a cold / snow event, but it wouldn't be the big month of the winter.  Normally our really good Januaries are preceded by a December that features something worthwhile, so I'm feeling good about things.
