Certainly doesn't have the look of a storm that's about to undergo rapid intensification.

And everyone mocked Pat Robertson...

The dude on TWC just picked up a tiny branch from a palm tree and tossed it up into the wind. It landed on the ground about 10 feet downwind. Pulitzer?

I read TWC was voted "best cable network." Of course the same article mentioned Taco Bell was voted "best Mexican restaurant."

12z EPS mean looks pretty cool'ish for all throughout the run. Trough doesn't go anywhere until maybe the very end of the run.

You guys would be having a field day if you heard what my Global Climate professor has been saying about this storm.

The local TV meteorologist here (who are all horrible btw) have been overlaying Florence over Montana like it's an apocalypse type of storm

I have been seeing the VERY scary report today that 10 trillion gallons water could fall on the state of North Carolina over the next week.

That is a very common way of measuring rain and that is a BIG number!

I wonder how many zillions of water MOLECULES are going to fall?????

The 12z EURO ensemble mean has Florence making landfall at Cape Fear then it wobbles slightly offshore before final landfall around Charleston. It heads up into the Appalachians before heading out to sea but that might not be the end of it. Chance it might loop back towards the East Coast again. That's still way out there though.

The mountains are going to get dumped on pretty good. Probably end up hearing about mudslides and rockslides.

Getting a bit of sun here now.

The transformation of the inner-core of #HurricaneFlorence is nearly complete. This cyclonically wrapping convection around the eye of the hurricane is not good news for the Carolinas.

Now he's catching some crap from Kait Parker regarding the last couple tweets.

There's definitely deeper convection wrapping around now. That's a given.

Actually, Kait's tweet was a response to an NBC news tweet.  Ventrice simply re-tweeted it.  NBC was saying it was downgraded, and was trying to contrast that with Trump saying this is a growing storm.  Ventrice agreed with Kait.

  • I am fearing that this might be the early stage of a rapid intensification process of #HurricaneFlorence. Another burst of convection to the north of the eye of the hurricane in recent frames.  We'll see if this cyclonically wrapping eyewall completes its orbit around the eye.

What is more concerning here is the inherent uncertainty of track shift as a consequence of this inner core adjustment that was not well predicted.

Yeah, now I caught that.

Hurricane Maria response (or lack of) all over the news today as well.

Florence has strengthened 5 mph. Looks like it's starting to intensify.

Woah. 116kts (~133.5mph) ~ 40mi off Wrightsville Beach.

That’s three buoys with gusts over 110mph now. Though this one seems bizarrely high..could be either a waterspout strike or an instrument error.
