I know we’ve moved onto hi-res models, but this 18z NAM run is glorious.

A tick more south and I am in the heavy zone.

No WSW for any part of west Michigan. GRR is guessing about 3 to here tonight and a chance of 2 to 3 tomorrow. Here is their reasoning for NOT issuing a winter storm warning.

ISSUED AT 316 PM EST SUN NOV 25 2018

- NO BIG CHANGES TO THE GOING FORECAST.

- THE SNOW WILL BE DISRUPTIVE, BUT NOT CRIPPLING, THUS WE KEPT THE
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY AND DID NOT UPGRADE TO A WINTER STORM
WARNING.

- MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE MUCH SLOWER THAN NORMAL.

- CONFIDENCE STILL HIGH ON A PLOWABLE SNOW.

- HEAVIEST SNOW BETWEEN I-94 AND I-96 WHERE 5 TO 7 INCHES EXPECTED,
LOCALLY HIGHER.

- LAKE EFFECT SNOW EXPECTED MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT WITH
SOME ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE MAINLY WEST OF US-131.
I have to say that makes sense to me.

Jaster....any snow warnings yet for your area. I am assuming you are under a WSW.

Just taking a look at that cutoff is absolutely insane. Glad this started to shift south last night, because being on the potential northern edge and getting shutout today would have been pretty disappointing- but got that out of the way yesterday.

If I have learned one thing again, it’s to always trust the Euro when in doubt.

Grass not covered yet in 60156, as we sit in a lull before the heaviest stuff gets here. Bearing down on Tom right now, and DuPage County looks to be the big winner around Chicago. We should do pretty well out here, in spite of the 1/2" of sleet that started this off this morning.

On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

You assume wrong, amigo

But, to read the heading on GRR's page..

Rain will change to snow tonight. Snow may become heavy at times overnight and early Monday, with strong winds creating whiteout conditions at times. Travel will become dangerous, including for the Monday morning commute. Power outages are possible.

We don't get words that perilous with an actual warned storm, lol

The whole headline thing's a joke. As posted elsewhere, they'll do the same thing they've done before, upgrade after the fact. Hopefully not after people on 94 have been killed in some massive pile-up

The Weather Channel forecast for Crystal Lake is:

4:00 lt snow

5:00 cloudy

6:00 blizzard

7:00 thru 2:00 am blizzard

I don't think I've ever seen a forecast like that around here.

Yeah, that's awesome memorable stuff right there.

I'm back home. Flew the direct SAN -> OMA route today. Probably the worst descent I've ever had, at least into Omaha.

It's almost as if Omaha didn't receive any snow. A dusting on the ground around the airport. In Lincoln, the grass is covered except for the typically bare areas. Wish we coulda gotten the amounts advertised this time yesterday. Oh well. The melting process begins tomorrow. Yet another snowfall going away the very next day-- Hooray! 25.5*F.

Formerly *ahem*: LNK_Weather, TOL_Weather, FAR_Weather, MSP_Weather, IMoveALot_Weather.

Usually, they wait until it really starts happening.......that unfortunately is a little too late, like you mentioned above in your statement
