The Feb 2002 windstorm was the worst I've ever seen in Eugene. I lived in Portland during the 1995 storm.

Again, you seem to have a weird inferiority complex when it comes to Western WA. The weather across the Seattle region has been mild and largely uneventful. Just like your neck of the woods.

 

Yeah having lived in both SEA and PDX, the grass isn't really any greener there even though both places have their pros/cons. Of course my drought ridden grass here is pretty much just sand now  . 

 

I think Hood River would be a fun place to live, lots of interesting weather and 25 in annual snowfall and just down I-84 from PDX.

The "South Valley Surprise" was awesome in the sense that I picked up a quick couple inches of snow in Salem, as it was on the north side of the advancing low center.  Temp dropped from the low 40's to the mid 30's and turned the rain to snow in a matter of minutes.

PDX hit 46mph with Friday's rather forgettable event. Would an extra 4 miles per hour have changed everything?

In my head, I keep relating his wind comments to potential snow comments... "I got 3 inches but really wanted to get 3.1 inches" seems appropriate.

Not enough snow yet... but today is opening day at Snoquamie Summit Central.     They should get another 2-3 feet by Monday so everything should be open for the holiday week.

Coverage looks better at Alpental.   You can see the chair lift running in the video... but the opening is says 'TBD'

Wife was driving home from Lincoln City that evening and it turned to snow on her drive, just east of the casino. Had heavy snow all the way back to Salem

High temps on Sunday per the 12Z ECMWF.    27 for a high at Snoqualmie Pass means easterly flow is in charge up there that day.

About a 6-8 degree difference. Cant tell from the Euro why it does not bring in so much warm air like the GFS. Hope the Euro is right.

True, it has been really mild there. This time of year a high around 20 and a low around 0 is average and this year there have been very few day's with a high below freezing.
