A strong system is currently undergoing rapid cyclogenesis (strengthening). The 00z GFS/Euro deepens this low to around 982/983mb by 11 AM Tuesday off the central California coast. I do not recall seeing a system like this off our coast this past Fall or Winter while California has been hammered with one strong storm after another. Fun stuff.

EPS has actually been trending drier for the next 15 days... glad we picked up 3/4 of an inch of rain here over the last 24 hours.   There was a little more rain overnight but just cloudy and dry now.

I had a meeting yesterday where someone asked our company President about ChatGPT and he went on and on for almost an hour about how amazing it is and how it even helped his daughter come up with a polite response to a guy who asked her out and she wanted to turn down.

Yeah it can be creepy but I think it’s also limited in some pretty key ways that should keep people from losing their minds with worry. At least FOR NOW.

Ultimately its just another way for the ultra wealthy and the elites to continue to concentrate wealth and resources at the top, and hope we don't notice.

GEFS looks a lot better with the late month stuff than previous runs. Really hoping he can avoid a phat ridge the last few days of the month since it will mess up the ANOMALIES.

12Z GEM is vastly different for early next week than its 00Z run.    It now shows that ULL heading south offshore rather than coming inland right over the PNW.

FWIW... the 12Z GEFS is much farther east with the troughing late next week compared to its 00Z run.    It also shows the ULL next week taking the path southward offshore.

Right now we’re up to 42 freezes on the season as of march 17th. That’s quite a few for here…had 46 in 2008-2009 which is the most we’ve had in a cold season. 
 March is also -3.4F as of this morning. Looking pretty likely it’ll end up decently below normal. Quite a run since November with the exception of January. 
 Still kind of disappointed we couldn’t manage more than 1.5” of snow from Valentine’s Day through early March. We had snow or rain/snow mix so many days in that timeframe. The snow on 2/26 was nice though…and we had plenty of decent small events this winter.
