It is a beautiful albeit warm day. Going to crash hard. IMO this trough isn't getting enough love. It's incredibly impressive for late March.

The 850s shown are pretty impressive for this time of year. Then again I think last April set the bar a little bit high.

Got this pic earlier at stop light in North Bend... back one appears to be Magnolia tree.   It's coming!

Yeah, if not for last April, this would be extremely notable, I suppose fairly similar to late March 2018.

I've been watching those occluded rainbands paint parts of the Santa Cruz range red for more than two hours straight. There have to be some isolated 6"+ rainfall totals today south of San Franciso.

I’m excited for it Andrew. Cold troughs usually have some fun convective showers at this point of the season.

that's not completely out of character for winter storms there.  This is crazy because it's late season.  I've seen near 10" of rain in 24 hours in the Mtns there

Magnolia?   Ours is not blooming yet... maybe next week.   But those trees have buds all winter.

Whoops yeah, meant blooming. And I was referring to North Bend as a whole, given the picture you attached. I'm sure that the main incorporated part of town down by the river is much further along than your fancy microclimate situated 500' higher and a couple miles south.

Correct... we are usually a week behind downtown NB.

Ended up with a beautiful 62/38 spread today. East winds got a little breezy in the afternoon.

Sort of an interesting pattern today with areas in the central and eastern Gorge being cool, calm and showery while the Portland area was warmer and sunny with breezy winds. Opposite of what you usually see this time of year. It’s all thanks to the counterclockwise flow in the upper levels around the low slamming into the Bay Area this afternoon. Unusual setup esp for late March.

Yeah good observation it was quite gusty here this afternoon. The best part of today was the blue skies finally returned instead of that awful blinding hazy sunshine last Thu-Sat.

Yeah that wasn’t the most visually appealing warm spell. Today was much prettier.

The strangest thing is happening right now. One side of the block I live on is foggy while the other side is not. Strange but kind of cool!

Plants are tough. Two nights ago it was 20°F with a hard wind, and I expected mass flower die-offs. Instead everything has continued blooming/greening.

It’s almost like plants have evolved over millions of years to handle challenging conditions. 😱
