Good lord.

Easy for you to say, the Fraser outflow is kicking and the low pressure systems will be coming at you full force. I'm not being a pessimist and saying we'll get nothing, but once again it is difficult without some sort of east wind.

Seems like Seattle gets slammed over and over no matter which model you look at. I'll be happy to get a few inches out of this in PDX.

It’s going to change about 20 more times leading up to it. I’m thinking this next one will include PDX.

Here is February 1990 in my area... not that impressive compared to what this month looks like now.

Two days below freezing... 16 inches of snow... only a 6-day period with highs below 40 with the snow on the ground... and the month ended with days of 63 and 67 degrees. I could see 15 days in a row below 40 here this month with snow on the ground.

Andrew likes 1990 because of the westerly flow (which will not be a defining characteristic this month).

Man, I can’t keep up with this thread.

And wow, that Euro run is straight out of the 1950s/60s playbook.

Jim has been talking about it as analog for this month... but this month might blow Feb 1990 away.

LOL at people making 1950s comparisons.  Most of those years were monsters here as well. That will not even come close to happening this time (we probly won't even see snow).

This band just won't leave. It keeps sliding west too, much further west than models showed.

February 1990 had a stronger vortex over the pole. Right now it’s a weak, discombobulated mess. I think this month will be colder.

Utterly fantastic Euro run!  Looks like an amazing weekend for SEA and PDX both.  I love how many days are shown with high temps around freezing.  Now if the ECMWF ensemble is right about the 10 to 15 day period this month would up there easily for top 5 February since 1850.

Is it strange that you saying PDX will do good gives me validation?

3rd ECMWF run in a row to end in a ridge...

ecmwf_z500a_namer_11.png

Remember that models will likely rush the pattern transition. That flip probably doesn’t begin until the third week of the month.
