Yeah, light NE winds would be better for sustaining precipitation, some indications the low is coming in just a bit too far north and putting us in the maximum region of shadowing. The struggle to get meaningful precipitation is the thing I hate the most about this microclimate. I think there's still a chance this works out, the dewpoints aren't extremely low and evaporative cooling could get us to a good temperature for quick accumulation. Just depends on very small details in the track of the low.

Prairiedog
Hey all, I'm kinda new here. For my Portland folks, anybody take a look at the possibility of an isothermal snowfall situation tomorrow night into Tuesday morning? Some of the higher res models (3km NAM, HRDPS) are showing this possibility. Here's what I'm referring to: "Hope" probably wasn't the "analysis" you needed. Jesse was right, wait and see. What I'm seeing, it is unlikely going to happen if you're looking for snow on the valley floor. That's my best look forward. If you have some elevation to work with, maybe. Too early to tell. Winds have already shifted WSW or SW in Salem. I've switched to the W here across the valley near Estacada. I'm thinking low levels will be just a bit too warm. . If winds stay S, SW, or WSW I don't see it happening. It is a wait and see this far out. Stranger things have happened. Root for at least a shift to NW wind. If you're calling me out (or at least trying to) for saying "we can hope", than what I was trying to say is that we can't figure out things this early. Really no need to grill me for not providing an analysis, as this isn't a feature present on numerous models.
