December 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

This kind of rainstorm is stupid, imo. It's ok to have a personal opinion. Everything will be ok Jesse!

Of course. Just kind of funny to point out how much you sounded like him considering how much you like to pile on the guy. Don’t worry, we all still think you are super tough and would have been golfing all day if it weren’t for those errands. ;)

Thank you. Looking forward to Tim's 2 cents later.

Something has to eventually dislodge that stubborn vortex that it appears will camp out in basically the same spot north of AK for 10+ days.

The pattern is very favorable for wave driving in the long range that would favor the PNW...NW-Pacific low and the Scandinavian High is ideal for the wave-1/Siberian type warming that may teleconnect to a favorable NPAC response.

Must be some pretty impressive totals just NW of PDX. Tons and tons of rain there, but it looks like Hillsboro is starting to get in on the action.

If we don't fall below 53F before midnight, we will be looking at a close to +20F departure...

Nope it’s snowing back and forth. Some rain mixed in though.

All the cams at the road level look like rain. Maybe snow on the slopes above. Snow mixing in seems likely. But snow levels are not supposed to be down to 4000 feet until tomorrow. They are in decent shape snow wise though. Are at the pass now? Cameras dont tell everything.

Looks like I'm gonna miss the rain by a few miles for several hours today. 0.02" since midnight, breezy

Not much better down the road from you.  .01 since midnight.  Lost power from midnight until 3:30am.

Hit 61 today.  Crazy warm out as of 4:20pm.  There was little rain west and south of you as well.  Nothing to speak of downtown Oregon City except a few sprinkles.

Per reports from other skiers the upper mountain has switched back to all snow. Even at pass level it has been switching back and forth now. Colder air is definitely filtering back in. By tonight will be all snow at Road level.

Shuster parkway by old town was closed due to water on the road. Jack hyde park was flooding in a few spots along with debris covering the road on parts of the ruston waterfront. Rain has let up a bit lighter for the moment...2.43" and 3.98" storm total.

Good grief, just touched 62 on one station and 60  on another.  .  Usually I run a 2-5 degrees cooler along the creek here than downtown Portland plus being in the woods helps, but this is nuts.  If I have good southerlies I'm close to the same temps as downtown but its calm here right now.  Can't figure out why I'm running this warm.  Pretty unusual.  Still bone dry.

some are saying the pattern sort of reminds them of 1986-87 in fact Anthony commented there is some 86-87 looks in the pattern.
