December 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

We still had one of these hooked up in our basement in 1990!

I specifically remember the Saturday night before the blast I had a friend sleeping over and we were watching the news before SNL came on. Jim Little mentioned something about very cold air and possible SNOW. That was as good as it got back then. Hour 720 is now the new hour 72! C’MON!!!!!!

Guys, this old school Frosty the Snowman cartoon is irritating as f*ck. Santa’s speech at the end, consoling the little girl after Frosty turned into a Tim-approved puddle on the floor, is complete bullshit. The prospect of Christmas snow EVERY year? Get a f*cking clue, asshat. No mention of the IOD, MJO, ENSO or global warming. Kids don’t thrive in an environment where they are lied to, at least regarding climate norms.

Too bad the passes had over a day of rain...they would have been sitting pretty if the switchover hadn’t happened. Oh well. Seattle snow December 1990 style will be descending upon us in 2-3wks!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Rudolph is on. Released in a cold, albeit briefly, December 1964!

All of the weather nuts of the time were convinced that a repeat of what happened 15yrs before was about to descend on them once again...

You may be on to something though. It's just as easy as opening and closing the greenhouse door at the appropriate times.

Problem is, where in the he'll is the magic greenhouse?

Santa apparently uses the Western Weather Forums to get his forecast.  Fool.  He should only check with government approved meteorologists.  Western Weather Forum needs to be banned!

.8" since early am(not too bad for a late fall storm).  1.22" since Wednesday.  Looks like the AR is long at last temporarily stationary over Oregon City, Estacada, and Sandy with rain rates of .  .  .wait for it.  .  .  .02/hr

We all have our noses pushed up against the windows wondering if it will ever stop.  The Sandy R bounced a whole .3ft and the Clackamas R 1ft.  Only 3 and 5ft below predictions.

We could use a little of this!!

Nothing in my life has ever compared to that storm. Brute force wind and cold I can remember my analog wind meter I mounted on my parents house going to 65mph. Speaking of that meter my mom called harry wappler and asked him where to buy the meter and he sent her to a place in Enumclaw where they made the meter. Harry was my favorite weather man on tv.

Lots of spread though.

There are a few euro ensemble members that are legitimately balls-to-the-wall frigid in the West with a monster ridge into AK and a SE-ridge with a big wave-1 presentation in the stratosphere.

On the ugly side of the spectrum, there are some members with a broad, potent ridge right over the West with a powerful vortex either over Alaska or Baffin Island/Greenland.

The rest are sort of in between but I’d like to see a trend towards more Alaskan ridging with time since those solutions seem to be colder out there.

Where can I see the individual ensemble members? I have WeatherBELL but can't find them. Just see the deterministic or the mean.
